It's more accessible to add it directly under the image!

Not only are there some bugs that cause alt text to disappear, but some people that use image descriptions prefer to not have them read aloud by a screenreader (such as those who are partially visually impaired, can't easily recognize facial expressions, etc.). It also increases awareness of image descriptions to have them visible in the post!

hey thought i’d ask here because it’s related to IDs and it seems you guys know what you’re doing

as an artist, it’s common for me to post multiple images of the same artwork with slight tweaks (e.g. colours or small changed details). For the image description, should I rewrite everything in the original image with the added info, or should I write something like “Same as previous image, but with yellow-orange gradient colours”

I really don’t know, because on the one hand it’s important to make image descriptions understandable and detailed, but on the other hand, I wonder if it’d be annoying for people with screenreaders to hear the practically same passage of text over again.
