So.. it’s happened again. I went to the workshop yesterday and my little @dremel micro drill wasn’t charging. Reading some reviews this is a coming issue with them and a year ago (when it was still within warranty) it stopped charging for a while.. but started again and I had some tight deadlines so didn’t sent it to be fixed. Now, with lots of orders to crack on with and Dorset Art Week just looming over me I think it has died. The lights are all flashing weird. It’s not charging 😰 Just going to keep doing letterpress till I figure this one out. (at Poole, Dorset)

Vibes right now ☝🏼💀😣 What. A. Day. 🤯 I’m in need of a yummy dinner, a warm bath and some real zen time. 😶Creativity has been put on the back burner for the last few days and I’m way behind on my Dorset Art Week deadlines and my head space is so far from a beautiful print right now. Up to London tomorrow for some @theassayoffice drops and picking up some new materials for a MASSIVE skull ring I’m going to be working on. Followed by some jazz with a few friends and my pal @atlas_diaries who is about to climb the North face of Mount Everest.. 😱🗻 ... but first, food 🍲 (at Poole, Dorset)

Ta da! My first, experimental wood cut! As I mentioned before, I could definitely design a better print but this was all about experimenting with the wood. • the torn effect on the tails was interesting and slightly risky cutting technique. Slicing small lines into the wood and then lifting the top with a wider gouge. • my little micro @dremel works like a dream - I used some of my round burrs for wax carving to create different sides holes, I wouldn’t have been about to do this so well with my cutting tools. There was a lot of fine sawdust though! 💨 • slicing with the micro drill did not work so well.. again perhaps with more planning but I think a mix of drill and cutters is the best option. • no idea how to clean the wood without damaging it 🤷🏻‍♀️ • getting an upwards flick or small slice in the wood is tricky. Practice makes perfect! Happy I’ve started though 🙌🏼 (at Poole Printmakers)

Not everything goes to plan and in this case there was none! A few rough sketches but when I started this woodcut I wasn’t too sure what I wanted the print to turn out like. This was my first wood cut and it was strange to feel that the cutting was easier than lino, at first I loved it but now I’m not so sure. I have lots of wood to carve up and lots of lino too so I’ll get cracking and plan some prints .. and maybe you can decide 🧐 Made 20 fishy cards to raise funds for our @samaritanscharity and @cr_uk through our @wecanyukon expedition 🛶 (at Poole Printmakers)
