Sometimes I feel like I interpret “Jayce’s promise” completely differently than 3/4 of the fandom. To me, the promise doesn’t refer so much to the mage’s warning as it does to S01 Viktor.

“I promised you” isn’t “I promised an alternate future of you that I’d save the world and stop/kill you.” It’s “I promised you I’d destroy the hexcore, I promised you to stay true to our dream - to do something good instead of great.”

It’s them FOR the world. That’s the whole point. It’s been their goal since the first day they met. By sacrificing themselves, they saved the world, yeah, but most importantly they stayed true to themselves and THEIR promise.
