What Are These Pieces and Why Are They Missing

Finally read Missing Pieces. Or, rather, listened to it. Shoutout all those who recommended it! I loved the looks at Nicky’s dreams/nightmares, so albeit probably not 100% description accurate, here’s how I saw it in my head.

• ARTIST’s RAMBLINGS UNDER CUT•

Oh boy. This book. If you’re familiar with the image of Shinji in a chair from Evangelion, that’s more or less my reaction. Shoutout to the author for subverting my expectations through the roof! So far at least. Carly Anne West is doing god’s work for this franchise. I have about thirty minutes to an hour left in the audio book, but I’m far enough to say this is solid. Aside from the. Humour of the characters. But other than that, they all feel like characters with so much life! The characterisation has so much weight, making the tense scenes even better. They have strengths and weaknesses and, dare I say, depth to them. If it dips at the end, consider my next post an apology post already.

They make Theodore so much more menacing with each media take I consume, and although the book came first (in comparison to WTRB), it’s a bit of whiplash to see how he’s portrayed in contrast to the admittedly somewhat funny version in WTRB then the less criminal version in the games. Not a bad thing at all, though! It’s actually quite welcome. It feels so much more fleshed out with how it carries itself. As long as the ending is as solid as the rest, be prepared for the next while to potentially be book focused,,
