While I do think Sydney Agudong is a miscast for Nani, there is something to be said about MSM twice now using the PALEST possible picture of actresses when announcing casting for a woman of colour character. Same happened with Kiawentiio when she was cast as Katara for the live-action version of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

I do think Sydney is too pale for the role but it's NOWHERE as bad as the MSM makes it look. I think it's purely to drum up hate and anger so the articles get more interaction. But ultimately the actresses get the brunt of the hate. Both Sydney and Kiawentiio's social medias got filled up with angry comments and I can't imagine what their DMs looked like too if they were left open.

We absolutely should be talking about colourism and if the role could of gone to someone who's fully Native Hawaiian rather than someone mixed race who lives in Hawaii. But I don't think Sydney is as white as the MSM makes out for rage clicks and engagement. And I think that's the other side of the colourism debate we should be having. That often WOC are often the brunt of hate for calculated schemes by MSM and often celebrity information sites use the palest pictures too.

Dream used mods to cheat his manhunt videos and honestly anyone who's ever modded Minecraft can tell you it's pretty suspicious that he knew he had a mod and thought somehow it didn't effect single player. Since mods are mostly added in FOR single player first and modded servers second. So was it really accidental or was it convenient for him until caught? Especially given a lot of his manhunt videos are meant to be Dream is a top tier minecraft player not that he mods minecraft to be a top tier minecraft player. Plenty of other Minecraft youtubers and streamers are pretty open when they use mods to enhance gameplay but I believe this is the first time Dream has ever admitted to it. He's been riding on the "I'm good at minecraft" persona this whole time.

The fact he went to lengths to cover up the fact that he used mods by hiring an unnamed mathematician who was very easily debunked by multiple known mathematicians, turned a blindeye to some of his friends and fans publicly messaging and harassing the mod teams and kept up the narrative for months that he had in fact not cheated.

Then does a uno reverse card months later to say "Yes I cheated but I'm not a PROFESSIONAL speedrunner I'm an ENTERTAINER" as if most speedrunners aren't also content creators and do it for entertainment but still recognise speedrunning is based on goodwill when it comes to the practise.

People have been actively hurt in this drama. Multiple people to the moderators of the leaderboard, to the mathematicians who just broke down the maths to be easily understandable, to speedrunners who weren't even involved in the drama have all been doxxed and sent death threats over this situation.

Heck even now Dreams fans and even some of his friends are jumping to his defence and attacking anyone who talks about the situation and??? Dream literally just confessed he was at fault.

This whole situation just feels Dream is downplaying how much he knew, that he's the soft boy uwu who made a mistake because he knows his fans see him that way. And not a 21 year old adult man who has been tampering behind the scenes this whole time to make it seem like he's better than he actually is. He's basically done the equivalent of using aim enhancers in first person shooters to make it seem like he's better at the game than he actually is.

So dream did cheat? Does it count as cheating if it's accidental? I'm still confused there too much maths and I don't watch dream I was only here for memes

It's one of the reasons I haven't reviewed Raya and the Last Dragon because I have no basis of how the representation was handled other than from my friend who's South East Asian coming to the conclusion that the film feels like a tourist perspective of culture. As in the references are there but it often feels like it's selling you the idea of the elements of multiple cultures and not an authentic representation or in depth. I'd love to hear other South East Asian's views on the film too. I've found some online and I've seen pretty mixed views over how the representation and world was handled. But I think that's why I enjoy reading multiple perspectives because they all bring up pretty valid and different points.

If anyone does know good videos talking in depth about the representation and cultural references I'd love to see them!

I want a South East Asian to properly review Raya and the last dragon and take into account all the culture and designs into account cause seeing all these white reviewers on YouTube not taking the world design and the beliefs in our culture into consideration is kind of baffling.

Following this advice any time my friend or significant other likes something I hate, I now openly and loudly tell them how much I hate it any time they’re having fun enjoying the thing they love. Idk for some reason it makes them feel bad? But I can’t LIE to them EVER not even if it’s a white lie to make someone happier. They have to know I hate one of the things that give them joy just because it’s not to my tastes. Anyway sarcasm over. White lies that you’re happy to enjoy something your partner loves is not bad and can actually make the relationship better. If I make time to do activities I don’t enjoy with my partner because they like it and they do the same for me, then that’s healthy. Putting down someone’s enjoyment or likes of something just because YOU yourself don’t enjoy it is a dick move. And most of the cases even when I start pretending I’m interested in my friends or my partner’s interests, hearing them talk passionately or having moments of pure joy they can share something with me that they care about, makes the lack of interest worth it. So what if I’m not interested in my friend’s kpop bands? Our friendship has become stronger because I LISTEN and don’t SHIT on them just because it’s the “truth”.
