Page 107: (live action Klaus Baudelaire voice) I feel like I've had these bags under my eyes for six years instead of just a month and a half!
First---previous---next
Anne-Marie: I wish you hadn't acted so impulsively. You're going to be in big trouble for this one, Katherine. Kat: Ehhhhhh. Maybe not my smartest idea, but no use crying over it now, really, is there? Trying to fight it would only make it worse. I'm cool with it. I knew what I was signing up for. Anne-Marie: I'm going to have to file a report, you know. And I'm going to have to turn you over to the Fleet once we land back on Earth. I'll have to get official statements from the crew as well. Kat: Yeah, yeah, you do that. I'm gonna get some sleep. Wake me up when we get there.

Page 106: You guys didn't get to see it while she was wearing street clothes before, but Kat's whole lower back is aaaaaall moth tattoo
First---previous---next
Kat: Is that how you got that nasty cut? Anne-Marie: No, this I got from the work boss. For complaining about unsafe working conditions. Kat: Wait, were there other prisoners? Anne-Marie: No, just other people who got caught up in the whole thing. It was like a cult. Half of them didn't even want to be there. But they still went running when they heard that your ship had entered Ganymede airspace. Kat: We went in the back door. Bet they didn't see that coming, huh? We have Conn to thank for that, too. Anne-Marie: Noted. Kat: Y'know, if that cut leaves a scar, we won't really be identical anymore. Anne-Marie: Didn't you just get a giant back tattoo? Kat: Hahaha! Oh yeah, I forgot!

Page 105: the green one is the one who got hit with the flying kitchen knife
First---previous---next
Anne-Marie: I think they chose me because they were trying to make some kind of statement, but they also wanted to hold me for ranson, I think. When the Fidelity launched on schedule the next day, seemingly with me on board, they couldn't figure out what kind of game the Fleet was playing. They didn't quite know what to do with me after that. Some of them wanted to kill me. But in the end, they decided to keep me around. They put me to work. They kept looking for a chance to use me as a bargaining chip, and I kept looking for a chance to escape.
#A Matter of Fidelity#please ignore my terrible quick drawings of Ganymede and Jupiter#also don't ask why I keep adding green and pink stars#it's just become a Fidelity style choice at this point for some reason

2025 quarter-year album of the week art dump:

(the formula for giving credits is lyric- (translation if applicable-) song- album- artist, ok? ok)
Week 1: "yo sigo siendo como soy"- 'I remain as I am'- Yo Sigo Siendo Como Soy- Esos Hombres- Vikki Carr. My mom recommended me Vikki Carr, but had no idea she also had some spanish language albums out, so we gave that a try- that woman can BELT.
Week 2: "it's an empty world up here"- Run Away to Mars- Lord of the Flies & Birds & Bees- TALK. Imagine watching a movie cause your dad told you to, thinking to yourself, wow, that was weird, carrying on and starting this album 2 weeks later, thinking to yourself, wow, this reminds me of that movie, only to then find out that Talk wrote this song specifically about that movie (which is Interstellar). Wild. Good music though.
Week 3: "we'll watch as the heavens turn round and round"- Round and Round- Raindancer- Erutan. LOVE Erutan, looooove her voice
Week 4: "myslel jsem, 啪e budu v臎d臎t, ale nev铆m nic"- 'I thought I would know, but I know nothing'- Po st谩tnic铆ch- Ide谩ln铆 膷as se nezbl谩znit- Michal Hor谩k. I think this man might be one of the greatest genius musical storytellers of our age.... hard to be certain, cause I don't speak Czech...........
Week 5: "a million miles from Florida"- Arizona- Hold On Tight- Hey Monday. Winter in PA hit me kind of hard this year, as someone who grew up in FL, so of course this was the lyric I gravitated towards
Week 6: "I'll cross that bridge when I find it"- The Reflex- Seven and the Ragged Tiger- Duran Duran. The pose reference was looking so good but I think I fucked it up by adding the jacket >:/
Week 7: "ich hab ein ganzes Meer voller bunter Farben endeckt"- 'I have discovered a whole sea of bright colors'- Meer aus Farben- Vor uns die Sinnflut- Berge. Songs that will get stuck in your head for infinity but you don't even mind that much.
Week 8: "if you're homesick, give me your hand and I'll hold it"- People Help The People- Birdy- Birdy. YES I painted Florida again LEAVE ME ALONE I WAS COLD AND MISERABLE
Week 9: "you matter and we all matter"- +Matter- DETOX- ONE OK ROCK. Longtime fan, and this was a new release- this song was an insta-fave
Week 10: "somos luz que brilla mas que el sol"- 'we are light that shines brighter than the sun'- Mas que el Sol- Clich茅s- Jesse & Joy. Longtime fan but I never gave this album my full attention- eh, I prefer their old stuff. Like how this art came out though, even if it is asymmetrical
Week 11: "everyone is a bad guy and there's no way, no way to know who's the worst"- You First- This Is Why- Paramore. Yes, I wrote the wrong word by accident. I also never gave this album my full attention- some of the songs did grow on me! Ce Comme Ca was not one of them!
Week 12: "got your back if you've got mine // one foot in front of the other"- One Foot- What If Nothing- WALK THE MOON. FUN song off a really good album! The (stick figure) art is fanart of my own ocs, the crew of the starship Fidelity!
Week 13: "ciao, ragazzi, ciao"- 'bye, boys, bye'- Ciao Ragazzi- Il Ragazzo della via Gluck- Adriano Celentano. Hi, I'm Neon, and I like the color orange. I also like coloring with markers. Couldn't figure out what to draw for this album, defaulted to orange markers, still like how it came out.
#art attempt#with lyrics#album of the week#taking and digitally editing pictures of the sketchbook pages continues to frustrate me...

First---previous---next
Kat: Even with his help, it still took me a month and a half. I'm sorry, Annie. It must have been horrible. I thought I was doing the right thing, but I never meant to leave you alone for that long. Anne-Marie: Oh, shut up. It wasn't that horrible. I still think you should have called the Fleet. But, what you did certainly did throw them off.

I am learning to use Pro Tools and I just really liked my professor's description of this kind of EQ shape as a 'mountain range'.
#art attempt#Seussical ass rainbow mountains#actually 'learning' is a strong word I'm more like 'floundering'#but I don't think this particular shape of EQ is very common#most of the mountain ranges are a lot less regular than that

Page 103: You can kinda see now why it was so obvious to Conn that Kat wasn't the actual Anne-Marie
First---previous---next
Anne-Marie: Katherine, that's not funny. Kat: It's a little bit funny. Anne-Marie: No. Kat: Aw, you're no fun. If it makes you feel any better, I did a good job pretending to be you. No one suspected me, not even General Pievere! Anne-Marie: Ugh. Kat: The only one who caught me at it was Conn, and that was by accident. But other than that- Anne-Marie: Wait, Conn? As in, Conn Reeves? Katherine, please tell me Reeves is not also somehow mixed up in this... Kat: Hey, don't be like that. Conn was the one who tipped me off about Ganymede. Without him, who knows how long it would've taken me to find you!
#A Matter of Fidelity#it's been soooo long since we've had Conn bro I can't WAIT to get Conn back up in here

It's officially been a year of album of the week illustrations! Had a hard time taking pictures this time around but you get the point, right?

(2024 part 1) (2024 part 2) (2024 part 3)
Lyrics + albums + descriptions:
Week 40: We're letting the music speak for itself this time: this is the guitar solo from the song Smooth, from the album Supernatural by Santana. Easily one of the songs of all time, and it turns out the rest of that album was quite fun as well!
Week 41: "it's gonna happen when it's supposed to happen", from the song One Step At A Time, from Jordin Sparks' debut album. My only claim to fame is that when I marched in Macy's thanksgiving day parade, we were behind her and she waved at us. I almost cried.
Week 42: "start again from wherever you end" is from the song Time Is The Playground, and "everything that ends begins again" is from the song Catching Windmill. Both are from the album Time Is The Playground by one of my favorite bands, Carbon Leaf!
Week 43: "speak soft with a big stick, do what I say or die", from the song US History, from the album Flipsyde by the band of the same name, except those lyrics are actually WRONG! It's supposed to be "do what I say or be killed". I'm so mad that I messed that up, cause I really like how this little piece came out. I also became instantly obsessed with that song, it's so good
Week 44: "what a way to make a livin'!", from the song 9 to 5, from the album 9 to 5 and Odd Jobs, by Dolly Parton. Once at work I found a silver stamp pad on the floor, so I took it home, and then I smeared it all over this page to create a glittery silver background which is impossible to take a picture of. The album itself was eh.
Week 45: it's the chorus and the background vocals of the song I Won't Give Up, from the album Love Is A Four Letter Word, by Jason Mraz. Another hella nostalgic banger- I drew my adult and kid selves singing it together
Week 46: "don't think you knew you were in this song", from the song 5 Years, from the album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, by David Bowie. Sorry the art came out kind of bad this week, but not that sorry, cause what the hell was this album? Why, when I asked my parents which David Bowie album I should listen to, did they both recommend me this incomprehensible nonsense? It's so weird! You guys like this kind of thing???
Week 47: "it's been decided how we lose", from the song The Emptiness Machine, from the album From Zero, by Linkin Park. By contrast this whole album was absolutely incredible, I LOVED it. The art this time is my beloved Hector of Troy, duh!
Week 48: "show me to where there's music // with music, I just might go on", from the song I Gotta Have A Song, from the album Signed, Sealed, And Delivered, by Stevie Wonder. It was alright. Colored pencil drawing I'm pretty proud of this week of Kim, an old and also beloved oc
Week 49: "I've got laser vision, and I'm burning a hole in the wall", from the song The Lady and the Tiger, from the album Join Us, by They Might Be Giants. YES I fell victim to the same faulty red marker again. I threw it away this time. Also weird music, but weird in a way that was much easier for me to appreciate. Really liked this song in particular.
Week 50: "you can keep your body, I just want your place in the world", from the song Mantra, from the album Vicious Creature, by Lauren Mayberry. GOOD ALBUM! REALLY GOOD SONG! My mom was really confused by the background for some reason- it's of my broken car mirror. Duh.
BONUS ART: "little boys have action toys for brains // I'm living proof it can last a long time", from the song A Great Big Sled, from the album Don't Waste Your Wishes, by The Killers. Annual holiday listen to my favorite christmas album ever! Drawing is of an action figure I have- yes, he's blue, I call him Paintball Vader. Meant to make the words smaller but I like how this came out
Week 51: "I'm gonna set my feet on Southern soil and breathe that Southern air", from the song Hey Porter, from the album I Walk The Line by Johnny Cash. 'Why is it green' cause I don't have enough gray markers to make it grayscale instead. Next question. Was it a good album? Eh, it was fine.
Week 52: "whoever I was then, I can't ever be again", from the song Miami, from the album Louder Now, by Taking Back Sunday. I'm so mad because I had high hopes to like this album and I hate it. I picked an album I hated for the first AND last weeks of 2024, ugh!
Thanks for following along with this little project of mine so far- MORE TO COME IN 2025!!!

First---previous---next
Anne-Marie: ...It wasn't supposed to be a competition. Kat: Yeah, but it was, anyway. We were teenagers playing the game of life with the same fucking face. Of course it was a competition. But hey, it came in handy this time! Everyone always wanted me to be more like you, anyway. I figured I'd take their advice.
#A Matter of Fidelity#happy thanksgiving everybodyyyy#I'll try to get at least one more page done while I'm on break#no promises but I do love this scene and I want to show it to you!

Third batch of album of the week art for 2024! Been listening to some really, really good music lately

(2024 part 1 )(2024 part 2) (2024 part 4)
Lyrics, albums, and commentary:
Week 27: "Run, run, with the fury of a saint in your eyes", from the song Highway Unicorn, from the album Born This Way by Lady Gaga. The gel pens didn't work out for me the way I wanted with this one... believe it or not, this is Speed Racer fanart
Week 28: "You gotta celebrate once in a while", from the song Carnival of Souls, from the album The Surrealistic Roadhouse by Northern Gloom. Yes, it's Homestuck. I'm friends with the guy who does all the sound mixing for this band- they're local to my state and just starting out so I figured I'd give them some views. Their music is decidedly not my thing, but if you like cosmic post punk, consider giving them a listen!
Week 29: "Here's to another better year", from the song NJ Legion Iced Tea, from the album Homesick by A Day To Remember. I like that song a Lot, good album even though it's a little screamier than I usually listen to.
Week 30: "Dors, le mal est passe, il te rattrapera pas", from the song Fondu au Noir, from Coeur de Pirate's self-titled album. Translates to 'sleep, the worst is over, it can't get you'. I listen to lots of non English music pretty regularly, but the French music scene (French Canadian, in this case) is something I've been wanting to get further acquainted with, and this album was soooo fun and cute and I loved it. Worth noting that between week 29 and 30's illustrations, I got hired for a new full time job after a few months of searching and freaking the fuck out about money, haha
Week 31: "Anxiety, suppress it if you can", from the song Anxiety, from the album No Control by Bad Religion. I like how this one turned out, it looks like the song sounds to me. Every track on that album is so fast that all of them are like 2 minutes long max!
Week 32: "In your skin, in your hair, I'm tangled up. In my head, in my mind, I can't get out. When you twist and you turn, teach me to run. I grab and hold on, I grab and hold on tight", from the song Hold On, from the album Come Out. You're Hiding by Flor. LOVED this album, especially this song!!!
Week 33: "You never know what you will get, you never know what you'll forget" from the song She Walks On Me, from the album Live Through This by Hole. By contrast, I HATED this whole album. All I can think about is that New Radicals song where he calls Courtney Love a poser, because. Yeah, that's the vibe I got from it, too.
Week 34: "Midnight is where the day begins", from the song New City, from the album This Too Shall Pass by The Fold. Yes, the band that did the Ninjago theme song- very glad to have dipped into some of their other music, I liked it
Week 35: "I will survive", from the song Touch of Gray, from the album In The Dark by Grateful Dead. I've been sorta aware of Grateful Dead's existence for a while, but this was my first time doing a dedicated listening of any of their music- It's a Vibe, honestly, recommend
Week 36: "Everything almost fits together right. But in the end, I don't belong inside a normal life", from the song A Normal Life, from the album Haven by Marianas Trench. I'm a huge fan of this band and this was a new release. The album is GREAT- I'm seeing them live on Monday, as well, I'm so excited! Acrylic paint continues to frustrate me, though
Week 37: "The moon upon the ocean is swept around in motion, but without ever knowing the reason for its flowing. In motion on the ocean the moon still keeps on moving. The waves still keep on waving and I still keep on going", from the song Anywhere Is, from the album The Memory of Trees by Enya. I LOVE ENYA. I have always loved Enya. This was a treat for myself, I love Enya.
Week 38: "Fire", from the song (you guessed it) Fire, from the album Paragon by Floor Jansen. This one was recommended to me by my dad- I really like and respect the musicality of it, but a lot of the lyrics were kinda unexciting to me. Not totally unexpected considering English is her second language, I believe? Overall I give this one like 3/5
Week 39: "The baffled king composing Hallelujah", from the song Hallelujah, from the album Various Positions by Leonard Cohen. Cohen's lazy diction and grating voice aren't my favorite, but man oh man does that man write good songs. Very glad to have spent a week with this one, for sure.
#art attempt#with lyrics#album of the week#it's so tough to keep this project going while teaching full time and also having a second job#but BITCH I intend to PERSEVERE
