minhyun.

             the invitation from their common friends was sent in a group chat they always have had and, minhyun wasn’t too sure whether to go or not when he had seen that samsoo also went; part of him not wanting to ruin their friends nor samsoo’s evening, just because of the past. however, his friend had told him to just come and that minhyun didn’t have to talk with samsoo, perhaps even coming a bit later would be better; the chance of samsoo being out dancing was high and it wouldn’t cause any awkwardness. however, that plan went out the window when he arrived, as a stumbling samsoo was headed directly to minhyun and by instinct, he reached out to support the other by his waist as he had fallen toward him.  ❛  you okay  ?  ❜  when the other male then began speaking aloud about their past relationship, almost as if it was still on-going, it made minhyun confused and it was clearly shown on his expression when looking toward the other male.  ❛  and what is it you’ve realized—  though, don’t you think we should wait with this talk, samsoo  ?  ❜  again, he could easily tell that the other was drunk already and probably wouldn’t remember any of this in the morning; which would just make their situation worse if you were to ask minhyun.

        just months ago samsoo would’ve pulled away at the feel of minhyun’s hands on his waist  ---  or at least, he would tell himself so. but he just leans into it tonight, shaking his head even as he tells the other:  ‘  i’m good  !  i’m great  !  you look great.  ’  he was already a little too far gone to think about whether he’d be embarrassed about the fervency of his words in the morning, tongue loosened with alcohol, inhibitions shot. it didn’t matter  ---  maybe the healthiest way of coping with seeing one’s ex wasn’t to down drinks in the hopes that he would be loose enough to talk to him, to act normal  (  &  maybe he’d taken it just a drink too far and was now crossing a line between normal and pathetic, but this thought hardly crossed his mind  ). he swayed closer with a laugh, words slurring.  ‘  no, no... i said it’s a good thing, don’t even worry. because, you know, i was really, really into you. i was, like, in love with you, in love with you. like the serious shit.  &  one of the guys was saying a  ---  a while back that maybe i wasn’t getting over it ‘cause i just never got closure, you know  ?  but i feel like maybe i did, because... i’m over it  !  ’  this was announced loudly, sing-song and with far too much joy at the prospect.  ‘  which is great, because it means  ---  it means we can totally be normal again. we can be at parties together and stuff and it won’t even be weird  !  ’

milo.

                   his  mornings  had  become  all  too  pleasant  ,  lying  awake  next  to  johnny  with  nothing  but  his  boxers  on  as  he  attempted  to  avoid  the  day  ahead  .  was  he  not  sleeping  enough  at  night  ?  or  maybe  he  just  ..  didn’t  feel  like  giving  up  the  proximity  ,  especially  as  the  other  inched  closer  and  he  couldn’t  help  himself  as  he  rolled  onto  his  side  toward  johnny  .  ‘  you  think  ?  ’  milo  couldn’t  help  but  laugh  ,  although  he  wasn’t  all  that  excited  at  the  idea  of  johnny  not  climbing  into  bed  with  him  .  then  again  ,  nothing  had  to  stop  him  from  inviting  himself  into  the  other’s  bed  once  it  arrived  .  a  low  hum  left  him,  hand  resting  flat  against  johnny’s  back  as  he  scooted  close  enough  to  drape  a  leg  with  over  his  with  no  intention  of  letting  him  slip  back  out  anytime  soon  .  ‘  it  is  pretty  comfortable  ,  huh  ?  fit  for  a  king  ,  ’  he  teased,  head  settled  against  the  pillow  as  he  watched  johnny  ,  wondering  how  worth  it  would  be  to  just  stay  right  there  all  day  .  ‘  test  out  some  beds  ..  are  we  talking  about  fucking  in  the  middle  of  a  mattress  store  ?  i  could  probably  get  with  it  .  ’  a  laugh  followed  ,  fingertips  dancing  along  the  other’s  skin  .  ‘  yeah  i’ll  go  with  you  .  it’s  only  fair  ,  you’ve  mooched  my  bed  long  enough  ,  i  get  a  free  pass  to  mooch  yours  whenever  i  want  now  ,  too  .  ’  grinning  at  johnny  before  finally  lying  back  and  his  arms  rose  to  stretch  above  his  head  only  to  slump  back  down  .  ‘  today  ?  you  positive  you  don’t  want  to  stay  right  here  and  see  how  many  entertaining  things  we  can  get  done  in  my  very  comfortable  bed  ?  ’  

          johnny could only roll his eyes with a little grin at the comments  ---  it was this or sleeping on the couch,  &  the idea of that felt much stranger than crashing in milo’s bed. he couldn’t deny  (  to himself, at least  )  that he liked their newfound closeness a little too much, the casual way milo could touch him like he was right now, warm skin fighting against johnny’s post-shower chill.  ‘  i know you’re not really complaining about me being here,  ’  he told him with a smirk. it was very, very easy to be tempted into staying in bed with him all day. it wouldn’t be the first time. but he couldn’t let himself be all too tempted this morning, not until he had a space of his own. he was determined. as simple as it felt to have picked up and moved with milo now that he was here, logic dictated that he needed to set up at least some half-hearted boundaries for himself  ---  at least, he liked to believe it was all about being logical. still, he couldn’t help but let himself be somewhat drawn in; an hour’s delay tops, he thought. his hand came to rest low on milo’s bare stomach, scratching lightly there with his fingernails as he grinned and leaned close to murmur,  ‘  i can promise you we’re not gonna fuck in the middle of a furniture store. but i think i can afford to hang out with you here for a little while.  ’  his hand trailed lower, lower  ---  but didn’t do anything but graze over milo underneath the sheets, before he raised it back up to cup milo’s cheek, tilting his head so he could press a slow kiss to his mouth. he pulled away, perking up as an idea occurred to him. ‘  oh  ---  &  we can take a couple of those edibles before we go, too. maybe i’ll suck you off in one of the bathrooms.  ’

         ‘  you know, when i said i’d take you shopping, i meant for an outfit for later tonight  ---  not for the next month’s worth of clothes,  ’   jiwon tells them, grinning a little despite himself. the complaints were arbitrary  (  it wasn’t as if he couldn’t afford it  ), teasing. he could put a stop to this at any time if he really felt taken advantage of  ---  but this arrangement was mutually beneficial, fun, all too simple where so much else in his life wasn’t. he enjoyed their company more every time they met like this,  &  gained greater appreciation the longer this went on for the fact that that he could help them out as they helped him out. he gestures at the piled-up clothes hanging off of the other’s arm, quirking an eyebrow.  ‘  you’re really going for it this time around, aren’t you  ?  ’

           ‘  yeah, it was her. so what  ?  ’  reid scowls outright, feeling accused even if that’s not their intention  ---  was he not allowed to make the mistake of having an ex over for the night  ?  regardless of what he and his friend got up to in their private time, he spent far more often telling himself that that was still what they were  ---  friends. he didn’t need any judgment from his friends over sleeping with someone he’d claimed it was completely over with. was he not allowed to change his mind, even temporarily  ?  there’s something about it being this person catching him in the act, though, that has him even more woefully defensive. he shouldn’t have called this morning at all, even from the supposed privacy of his bathroom. he shrugs, sulky and petulant.   ‘  she hit me with the ‘i miss you’ texts at like one a.m. what was i supposed to do  ?  say nah, i’m good, please don’t come over for breakup sex  ?  it was basically just a booty call.  ’
