My friend wants to know
#for powdered detergent i use a cup to scoop it unto the detergent tray and the cup goes right back into the detergent container#liquid detergent i usually just pour right into the tray#unless i wanna set the timer on the washing machine to start washing more than an hour later#bc the users manual says not to use the timer with liquid detergent but i don't wanna use powdered detergent with dark clothes#so in that case i pour the liquid detergent into a cup and gently place it upright into the drum of the machine

#if you're going into an abandoned building please make sure it's actually abandoned tho?#like i totally get the urge and I've done it a few times before too#but in the first few weeks after our house burnt down when it hadn't been completely secured yet at least two people went snooping in there#and the very thought of that still makes my skin crawl#one person went into the basement where mom keeps some of the inventory of her store bc the store itself doesn't have much space#and they just stole a bunch of vases and tea light holders and stuff like wtf#don't you think this fire was hard enough on us financially? now you also gotta steal some of the shit that could be recovered?#and then one day when the construction workers came on site to continue securing the building#they found a young kid inside just exploring#and that fucks me up even more bc if that kid had tried to go into my or my mom's bedroom he would've fallen through the fucking floor#in my room that was kinda obvious to see but mom's room was a fucking death trap#the carpet in there looked completely fine apart from the soot#but the floorboards underneath were completely gone in quite a few spots#so yeah that kid could've seriously injured themselves#and we would've been to blame both legally and IMO morally too#so yeah be safe out there#and maybe don't go exploring buildings that were just very recently struck by disaster

#almost all of these lmao#i went through the classic pandemic sourdough phase and spent like 6 months making soooo much bread#not sure about butter but i think we turned cream into butter in kindergarten once? but that was so long ago i don't really remember#i don't think it counts but i made vegan cheeses a couple times back when I was vegan#I've made soap and candles several times!#i really wanna make soap again but we lost our soap supplies in the house fire#and i can't afford to replace it all atm. maybe in a year or so.#haven't properly brewed wine or beer myself but i've made a bunch of different liquors before#like liquorice vodka my beloved#and weed vodka my beloathed#that shit gets you drunk AND high in record time but it tastes like ass#made a bunch of hummus when i was vegan but i ate so much of it back then that I'm still sick of the stuff#haven't made a blanket yet bc such large projects intimidate me but I've crocheted a decorative pillow cover#and sewed a huge heating pad for my friend's old ass dog to ease his joint pain and it turned out big enough to be a blanket for him#RIP Rocky I miss you

#i prefer the way i look with glasses#i'm too lazy to put in and take out contacts every day#daily lenses are way too expensive#and i refuse to get monthly lenses bc i'm worried i might accidentally not clean them well enough and thus get an eye infection#bc that happened to a friend of my mom and idk if i know anybody that's as obsessed with cleanliness as her#so if not even she could keep her lenses clean enough to avoid an infection? i know i most certainly can't#so I'll just stick with wearing glasses 99.9% of the time#and occasionally wear daily lenses in situations where glasses would be inconvenient (skiing) or impossible (snorkeling and scuba diving)

Me, 15 minutes later, sobbing: "Love is stored in handwritten recipe cards"
#oh no this made me cry#among all of the things we lost when our house burnt down#my late grandma's recipe book and my mom's recipe book that she started as a teenager are among the things we're the saddest about losing#luckily mom and i had taken pictures of some of our favourites to send to other peoole or for easy access when we're not home#but those were only a tiny percentage of all the lovely recipes in there#and not being able to hold those books in our hands anymore hurts#grandma's book was basically just loose pages held together by duct tape and prayers after decades of heavy use#i miss them so much
