five hundred and thirty people laid off from riot. We aren't even one month into 2024.

there is no security in the work within game development. My dad would tell me 'just work hard, be essential and earn your place' but that isn't how it is anymore. You could be the best, most amazing artist, as so many of my friends who were laid off were, and it doesn't matter. They will get rid of you just as easily. I don't even know what to feel anymore, but as someone who had been laid off in the past, I cannot convey how devastating it is to have your life uprooted just like that.

So glad I got into this game when I did (aka late) because according to Steam the sequel will likely come out this year. Hoping the financial and critical success for the first game gave them more budget to really flesh out the next game and give it the additional depth it deserves.

the worst thing about greedfall is that it creates this aesthetically beautiful world that meshes so many different cultures and art movements and histories, but we only get a glimpse into it.

CONFESSION:

I hope the critical and financial success of Greedfall shows BioWare and other game companies that fetch quests are NOT neccessary for a game. Greedfall focused on characters and each sidequest is in a chain tied to a faction and it continues a story line, that ties into the MAIN story line. It actually brought the world to life. I like to see something similar in the next Dragon Age game but sadly I think no matter what they do or try people are always going to complain.
