BASED ON THIS AU IDEA I HAD. - this is just a snippet of a fanfic i may write if people are actually interested.

“Elizabeth, come!” Milton said, grabbing his friend by the hand and leading her into the ballroom. Music and laughter echoed through the hall as the guests moved about in time to the tunes. “I will show you fairer faces than that of your precious Sebastian,” he laughed and grabbed the hand of Josette with his free one. Elizabeth smiled and let the man twirl her and her sister around the dance floor, their identities hidden beneath the masks so graciously given to them by their friend. Elizabeth’s mask depicted a fairy - it’s color a pale blue with detailing of glitter and twigs. Josette’s depicted a mermaid - the mask a duo-chromatic green and purple color that is adorned with small seashells. Milton wore a simple white mask, no fancy covering could hide who he was. 

“How can you show my sister fairer faces if everyone’s face is hidden, my friend?” Josette asked as she pulled her group toward the wall. Elizabeth’s attention had been drawn from the conversation - for she had spotted the strong jaw of her beloved Sebastian from beneath his mask. She longed to go to him but found herself pulled away from her friend and sister onto the dance floor. Elizabeth was spun around and moved from man to man as she danced, her head whipping back and forth in search of Sebastian.
