what ppl defending kids on ipads don鈥檛 seem to understand is that there are other ways to keep kids occupied. my mom had a whole bag full of little toys and games for me to play with while waiting in lines at disney world. once your kid is like 7 or 8 they can read a book. they can color. or they can literally just sit there and imagine things. i did that a lot as a kid.
#SO bizarre because my kid loves going out and seeing people and trying new things#if you condition kids to need things like ipads or phones then they will think they need them#and honestly they will need them at that point because now they dont know how to self soothe or entertain themselves or sit quietly#i go to the store and almost every kid i see is on a phone or ipad#and worse some of the much older ones are on ipads talking to themselves loudly or with thr soind all the way up#like kids that need to be up and about walking and watching their parents shop so they knpw how to do it#they dont register anyone or anythkng around them#its so unbelievable#cant imagine being that kind of parent#*i* dont even want to look at my fucking phone that much and i grew up on one#how can a child want to do that 24/7#i would have been so bored doing that instead of reading and drawing#it really makes my heart hurt#these kinds arent living their lives#they arent being kids#they are consumers#its just depressing and it makes me want to shake their parents and yell at them#they are ruining their kids lives#and i will be 100% here#idc if people let their kids have occasional screen time#thats good for developing boundaries and understanding how things work#but if you really cant parent your kids without using devices (talking about neurotypical kids here) then you shojkdnt have kids#full stop#if you just cannot be tb#bothered with raising your kids to that extent you need to find a permanent birth control solution and cowboy up w the kid you already have#bc youre a bad parent and you need to turn that shit around#bc as this post details its not just milestones in the classroom or development for productivity#its like.... being able to observe your surroundings#being safe and secure and FEELING safe and secure because you understand whats happening#its the ability to learn and grow and fail and try
