OOC: Sorry for disappearing

Hey guys, sorry for just disappearing on y'all like that. I moved too fast on getting people to join in on blog interactions and was, admittedly a bit demoralized by the lack of interest in doing the open-house. Add that I was also trying to do it during my final quarter for my Associates and it was kind of a recipe for disaster. That's no excuse for disappearing without a word though.

I definitely want to get back in here. I know there was interest, even if people weren't ready to actually engage just yet. I'll try to take this a bit slower this time. Not sure yet how I'll approach it, but it'll hopefully be fun ^_^

Sorry again for vanishing like that. Let's make it a good summer!

Virtual Open House - OOC

I want to host a Virtual Open House event for Ho-Oh U about three weeks from now. Is this real? As in, is this a university which provides education to Pokémon? I am want to say that a majority of educational programs targeted to us are scams, at least in some way. How do you intend to distinguish yourself as legitimate?

An absolutely valid question! We do have our credentials listed on our website. I hope that our open admission to Eebies and Hybrids should help establish some trust as well, though given the nature of our universe at this time, I can understand if not.

Here at Ho-Oh U, we believe that no being of sapient thought should be denied the opportunity to thrive. If you’re not sure about us now, I hope you will keep a sharp eye on us, and that we will be able to not just meet, but exceed your hopes and expectations.

It's honestly surprising how brazen you can be with this "project". Pokemon are not capable of what you claim, this is pseudoscience at best, and a profound waste at worst. How have you managed to subvert the very clear regulations against creating "universities" for "sapient" Pokemon? The last time this happened, all of the professors involved had their doctorates nullified. May history repeat itself.

What an odd thing to say. I am somewhat curious as to whether you take issue specifically with sapient pokemon, or the project as a whole.

While not even an event that occured in the region I reside in, if I recall from my own research (it may surprise you to know that starting an academy, especially with so little precedent, does in fact entail quite a lot of research!) the events in question occured long before we even knew about Ultra Wormholes and similar phenomona. You might imagine much of our understanding of the world and universe at large has changed.

In the past, old ideals have been pushed aside in favor of new information and progress.

May history repeat itself.

Anika Wesker - College Dean

Anika Wesker is a Pachirisu Eeby and former sociology professor who was asked to step down from her position upon her transformation. She is very passionate about education and, not willing to see anyone else left behind, has spent the past half-decade working on establishing Ho-Oh University. Due to her stature and cuddly appearance she has to work extra hard to be taken seriously. She does not currently have any pokemon.

Diana Mosey - Academic Advisor

Diana is an Ursaluna Eeby and former High School guidance counselor. She spent two years in and out of the hospital while the doctors tried to determine what was happening to her. It didn't help, of course, that the pokemon she was turning into is currently listed as "Extinct". Their lack of understanding of the situation and the general strain of expanding bone and musculature has left her with chronic back pain. Eventually she was let go from her job with the excuse that faculty felt she would be "too intimidating" to continue to assist students as a guidance counselor. This was in spite of protests from many of the students at the high-school who she had done much to help during her tenure. She now works as an Academic Advisor for Ho-Oh University and is excited to be helping students again. She has one pokemon, a Mimikyu named Echo who loves cuddles!

Harvey Benz - Social Media Manager

Harvey Benz is a Lopunny hybrid with Lopunny ears, and lower half. He'd been able to get by for a very long time by doing remote work and carefully hiding his ears when required to do video calls. He almost didn't believe it when he learned of the opening at Ho-Oh University, but now he is very glad to be working in a space where he doesn't have to hide any part of himself. He has one pokemon, a Dachsbun named Cinnabon.

This is an OC Pokemon IRL Ask Blog. As such all in-character posts will be tagged #pkmn irl.

This is a side blog to Ikoni Dweebs. Asks will show up as if coming from that blog, but will be signed off by the appropriate party

I would say my favorite thing is our capacity for growth and change. Not that it is entirely unique to the human species, but I would argue it is one of our better traits. - Anika
