Quote
A language is not just a body of vocabulary or a set of grammatical rules, a language is a flash of the human spirit. It’s a vehicle through which the soul of each particular culture comes into the material world. Every language is an old-growth forest of the mind, a watershed of thought, an ecosystem of spiritual possibilities

Language Learning Music Resource : EveryNoise
I rely on music for language learning. To a ridiculous extent. Ear training, pronunciation tongue-mushing, quick phrase recall, enjoyment, wtv. So when I stumble on gems like this I get giddy.
Links after the break:
(Disclaimers: I am still a noob to EveryNoise. But what I've seen so far I like.
Idk how frequently it updates or how / if it takes requests for additions but. We can find that out together, I guess.
Also, haven't tried this on mobile yet, so if the UX is shit...sry?)
Quick & Easy:
The Needle
Works with Spotify. Quick way to get some music from a target country. Not all countries are there, at least now, but who knows about the future.
(Also, check some of the other links below because your countries might be on those lists.)
It's so much easier to pop this on than fiddle with YouTube or other Spotify, for me atl.
You want Charts? We got Charts:
Every Place at Once
Warning: Memory intensive. RIP my patience.
I like to click a city to sort by acoustic similarity, then hit GRID. My crap computer makes grinding noises...
And eventually it pukes out a rough popularity chart.
I like it bc it includes bands that haven't made it onto the genre webs yet and songs that aren't on YT/Spotify yet. Hopefully it'll help me feel up to date with my native speaker music nerd friends. I'll have to ask.
Genre-hunting:
We Built This City On
For genres that are more city specific. I like that these feel...more unique to a place. Atmospheric. I don't know how accurate it is, but...maybe? Try it.
Click a genre.
Hit SCAN on the bandname web that comes up and you'll get some brief sample clips of each band. (~It's so convenient.~)
Hit PLAYLIST to generate a Spotify playlist.
PULSE is apparently “genre's fans' current favourites.” Idfk, try clicking that too.
Genres by Country
Similar to Cities, only even broader. It's...a lot. But it's nice to see genres by region, if you wanna spread out.
If you're like...why the fuck is there only the USA? (Me.) Scroll right.
More:
There’s more to the site than what’s on this list. If you come up with other cool things to do, plz add on bc I wanna know. :P <3
