Note
i have no artistic drive to do anything, how can i change this?
That's ok! You don't have to force the change, sometimes a little space and time is necessary and you'll soon enough feel ready to make things again. It's important to be kind to yourself in these moments.
When I've felt like this, I personally find it helpful to drop the pencils and brushes for a moment, and go out on a journey. Sometimes I'll plan a trip to a new town, or even just take a walk in my area. Without putting pressure on myself, I just go with the intention to keep my eyes open to the world, and welcome inspiration if it comes my way.
When you start to look around you in a certain reflective way, you notice how many stories are taking place all at once. All the interesting ways people dress and carry themselves. The interactions happening between friends and loved ones. People daydreaming in café windows or chattering to each other at the bus stop.
There's a lot to take in, which could spark an idea or even just a feeling that could someday lead to an idea. I'll always take a sketchbook with me, just in case I want to remember some of it.
I wonder if something like this could be helpful to you, if you haven't tried it yet! We observe things all the time of course - I find it's just a case of taking time to give a little extra thought and imagination in the process. Observation is a creative skill in itself, and sometimes that's enough to get on with until you're ready to make work again. Even if you don't work figuratively, or prefer working from imagination, this could potentially still feed into that.
