I really wish I didn't have to censor the image AND can't put the uncensored under a readmore and instead gotta link it offsite AND omit any mention at all of sex or nsfw AND make sure the tags aren't too duplicitous AND label it as mature JUST to have my art show up in the tags
#when really you'd think only the last step is necessary#but i've found that tumblr's filter for what shows up in tags#doesn't bypass your post just because you correctly marked it as mature#it will heavily suppress it in tags unless you censor the image itself and do a whole bunch of other things#i'd almost say it's flattering that i render blue dick and balls well enough to have it be correctly identified by filters but#it only makes it harder to post nsfw no matter if i follow the rules or not#i still mark things as mature as a way to make sure kids aren't seeing it since it's the ultimate check#especially considering i make mature art of adult characters in a children's cartoon but#self-assigned community labels are such a joke actually#in that they aren't *actually* used by Tumblr's internal framework to identify mature content at all#they're fairly useless#all they do is further suppress what has already been heavily suppressed through image filtering#mature labels are a good idea in theory but they're not handled correctly on this site at all#the filter for whether or not something shows up in tags should be bypassed if the post is marked as mature#like on Bluesky things still show up in tags if you mark it as sensitive content#it's just hidden with a warning that you have to click on or as per user-end settings dictates it shows#here your post straight-up won't show up in tags at all if it has mature images in it even if you labeled it right#Bluesky really is one of the only good social media sites i've found that so far actually handles mature content correctly#'tis annoying when Tumblr is still mostly my home#sky sez
