My second tattoo and another meaningful moment in my life. I'm glad I did this alone & realized how much it means to be independent and so aware of my choices, my voice and most importantly my vision in life. Saudade (Portuguese): Describes a deep emotional state of nostalgic longing for an absent something or someone that one loves. | Saudade; how you sometimes long to know and love yourself at times when you physically and/or emotionally can't. Here's my attempt at writing arabic and reminding myself to love myself first in the new upcoming 2k15 year. I don't want to be in a deep nostalgic longing for myself. I want to be 100% present. First tattoo and there's a significance that sears both emotional pain and empowerment. It wasn't just for me. It was to feel that sensation of pain for every unfortunate victim of sexual assault out there. It was such a surreal experience because the artist was asking what and why I was getting it. Internally it was so fucking emotional. But externally everything was happening so smoothly. Every sting was attributed to everything any victim or survivor experienced. The best part was just being present. Being able to feel. Here's to me sharing how I no longer want to avoid the experience of existence and feeling. I'm a victim, survivor and a human being.
