Part of a book cover commission. I'm really happy with how it came out! Some zoom shots to show you how messy it is at full size. I think it's cool that something so illegible close up takes form at smaller sizes. Like it's all just dots and dashes, y'know?

Big news: I applied to and got into the Visual Narrative MFA program at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. I'll be starting this summer and I'm really excited!

My decision to go to art school came after many many years of self-reflection and a few acute, major changes in my life. The pandemic made me realize I hated working in publishing and needed to do something different; job searches showed me that artists can actually make money; some casual comic-making classes reminded me that drawing is FUN; I moved across the country with my partner as they follow their dreams; and soon after the move I found out I have cancer! (Don't worry---after my surgery next week I'll be cured.)

That last bit really put everything into perspective. I needed to put myself and my joy first. So I applied to this MFA program that I'd been thinking about for years but never felt ready for. And they love me! Ahh!

The program is about stories and storytelling. I'm gonna be making comics and animation and other things I don't even know about yet. I'm gonna be an artist, mom!

A failed attempt at inking and coloring this panel. Someone in the critique said it looks like they’re by the pool. I wish that was the goal bc it really does look like that. :^P
