Chapter 21 of How the Game is Played!

With a new sense of self, Ada prepares to confront Calcazar on Footfall following the revelations on Eufrates II. But things are rarely so simply, and it appears her trials are far from over.

Much Ado About The Lord Captain - Chapter 50

Reunited in the Dark City, Heinrix is not pleased with Isha's engagement with Marazhai. Shocked to find her wounded by the encounter, they must navigate a complicated conversation. Once reconciliation is close, the Drukhari comes in with a shocking revelation of Heinrix's complicity in Isha's abduction. But there's little time to dwell on regrets when the last stand in the arena awaits them.

“I’m sorry,” he whispered between kisses. “I’m… Isha, I didn’t want to hurt you…” “Don’t do it again.” Her breath caressed his lips. “Promise me. I just wish to reach home.” “I know, and I’ll give everything to see you safe–” “Mon-keigh affection. How you don’t tire of this disgusting display is beyond me, Rogue Trader.” The gravelly voice whipped him around, and he launched forward only to be restrained by Isha’s tightening grasp around his wrist. His Psykana swelled into a ferocious gale. Ice crept up his spine, battling with the heat surging through his body. “Lord Captain, remind me, why do you suffer the source of our ordeals to live?”

My Knight So Daring by @holylustration

You must learn that, if you wish to survive.” A mean looking smile passed over Lady Enna’s lips, though Aurelia wasn’t sure if that was the fault of the woman or the make up she wore, “Lord de Gauvain’s first wife was a beautiful and learned woman of the highest breeding. But he killed her within a year of their marriage. Given your... situation, and your temperament thus far, I’m not sure you’ll last half a year.”

A Knight Pilot AU whose first chapter has me by the THROAT. Holy's done a wonderful job of painting not just the atmospheres of Alera II and Guisorn III, but the entire proverbial regicide board of politicking and marriages of convenience that will settle the war between worlds. Not ONLY THAT, but Heinrix de Gauvain is a hard-edged man with a crimson mechanical eye, wrapped in bloody mystery concerning the suspicious death of his last wife. GO READ IT!!!

Vows over Amasec by @amasec

The Interrogator kissed her with the eagerness of a man starved entirely of affection; or, more likely, a man who had been unable to steal even the briefest moment alone with his Lord Captain for over a week.  And Heinrix was not known for his patience. 

I LOVE the way Leonard writes every smutty encounter between Runa and Heinrix, and this one's no different, pals. So much of Heinrix's flustered personality comes through in the two chapters I've read of this -- frustration that bows to its very limitations before it snaps and bleeds with delicious, steamy goodness. RUN, DO NOT WALK!!!

“Reckless.” Heinrix’s rebuke was accompanied by a disdainful scoff, and Visenya fought the urge to turn a scathing glare on the Interrogator. Though they were becoming more familiar with one another – she’d even go so far as to call it ‘friendly’ – their budding…whatever it was did not grant him permission to be a sassy dick.

I've endeavored to stay caught up on this one, and, y'all, the latest chapter of MH had me HOWLING at the humour. Heinrix is exactly as fussy with the recruitment of Yrliet as you hope, and the internality that Four weaves in makes the moment even more delicious. I can't wait for Heinrix to be this bitter about her for the rest of the series - and I'm sure Visenya can't, either, LOL.

The relationship between Heinrix x Visenya burns slow in this one, but the tenderness blooming between them is something I die for, each and every time I come across them. <3

Out of the corner of her eye, she glimpses Jae studying her, and somewhere in the back of her mind ponders what this Cold Trader, this consummate dealmaker, sees and what calculations she is making this time. In the Immaterium Gift Exchange, there are 11 prizes in total to be awarded. What, did you think I was kidding when I said that this was the most ambitious event yet? 9 of these prizes will be awarded via a 'Prize Pool' system. A prize pool system works similar to first in best dressed where: - At the conclusion of the Gift Exchange reveal party, if you have successfully submitted a gift by the due date, you automatically go in the draw. - Out of those people, 9 names will be drawn on screen live. - Following the event, Jaal will orchestrate for each winner to pick their prize, starting at the name who was drawn first. - So, if your name is drawn first, you can pick 1 gift out of 9 available. If your name was drawn second, you can pick 1 gift out of 8 available. If your name was drawn third, you can pick 1 gift out of 7 available. And so on, until we reach the last name drawn and they receive the last gift. - And that covers 9 of them, what about the other 2 gifts? Well, you'll just have to wait and see how these are acquired. Some gifts will be digital, others physical. If you choose a physical gift, all shipping expenses are covered. Please note that with 90% of gifts, you must be willing to provide specific information to Jaal so that your gift may be delievered to you without delay. Stay tuned for the reveal of gifts.

my last dopamine week contribution is about the work I picked as my week's focused reading, @redbatchedcumbermayned's MAATLC ❤️

Maybe the most striking thing about MAATLC for me, was the fact that I could have easily stumbled on this before ever playing Rogue Trader, and still had felt as immersed in the story. Fran does such wonderful groundwork for one thing to expand on the next, and it's been a particular delight to see Heinrix's character explored and expanded through her eyes. I'm a sucker for getting to see why a love interest finds their feelings for the protagonist, and I'm with Heinrix on this one - I'd fall in love with Isha too!

Fran, writing is hard, and it's particularly daring when you're doing it on a language that's not your native. As ESL, your work is inspiring, a level of wordsmanship one can only aspire to, and I can only thank you so much for sharing it with us. There's still a whole lot of chapters for me to read - so forgive me for not going too in-depth - but I know I'll enjoy every single one of it and can't wait to catch up <3
