that "home stuck" Webcomic you have heard oh so much about
This Is Not Affiliated In Any Way With A Splendid Or Land,
the land here is actually quite un-splendid.

Vriska’s entire purpose as a gimmick character who starts off with kinda awful stats but get’s incredibly broken if you stick with her long enough FINALLY works!!!! endless random crits if you have the patience to steal them >:)
(waffle cones have a 100% crit chance even though they never attack you, so you could max out her crit rate in like 7 encounters with those guys if you *really* wanted to run around in one spot waiting for their absurdly low encounter rate to trigger)
woo i can now set the death sound for each enemy individually!
kinda a small silly thing that most rpgs of this kind wouldn’t really need? except maybe i guess to differentiate enemy deaths and boss deaths if you really wanna get fancy with it, but for a humour based game like this it’ll add a lot to certain encounters :3
it’s made in “wolf rpg”, an RPG-Maker-like game engine no one has used since 2010, and even then they only used it for RPG Maker-esque horror games and not actual rpgs! (Misao and Mad Father are two games made with it if you’re curious)
I made a shitty joke comic in a bout of hyperfixation on an actually funny sprite comic by Samanthuel Splendidland, and the spinoff game, also by Samanthuel splendidland, and in that poorly thought out daze I made a Not Very Funny comic based off of that without splendidland’s permission!
and in my hubris, having decided i hadn’t gone far enough, i was possessed to make a not very funny *game* as well! and it’s finally in a somewhat presentable state! battles animate, the story exists somewhat! there’s a bus! there are *several* items! and maybe even “jokes.”
here are some screenshots i guess!
it has like, about 30 minutes of content if you aren’t particularly thorough?
it’s also incredibly unpolished and only really goes up to the second world.
showcase of most of the animations i’ve coded in thus far!!
(excuse the waiting around trying to wait for june to get hit because i hadn’t actually drawn hurt sprites for any other character yet lmao)
since allowing myself to just hackily insert animation cases into my Script For Displaying character sprites, and just making the battle system call them from *roughly* where i think they’d be relevant, rather than doing all of this the “correct” way, i’ve made RAPID progress on this stuff!!!
so moral of the story is if it’s worth doing it’s worth doing poorly rather than not at all
you’;l be happy to hear that not only have i overhauled the battle screen’s ui completely! but i’ve done it in the hackiest stupidest way possible, wrestling this engine tooth and nail to do it all in the laziest way i could <3
unfortunately the characters don’t animate yet, but atleast they all look horrifying
