this came back to my notes and I'd like to reiterate this because... I often forget my own advice. and in moral obsession fashion, in the past months I have been juggling personal life, academic life (including political-oriented research and being an active member of our academic center/local student body representation org), staying informed, and local political activism, all while doing my best to be a ~Good Person~ - and after months and months of prioritizing Doing Good and Helping Others instead of respecting my limits, it finally took its toll on me and I have spent the past month bedridden after getting pneumonia followed by a fungal infection which led to me finding out my immune system is currently royally fucked - and after some weeks of investigation/exams doctors have concluded it's due to... stress! who would've thought. I guess my therapist was right all along

so yeah, I'm going to come here and other websites to have fun and destress. I already eat and breathe this sort of information all day everyday in my personal life trying to do well and I feel safe to say I have the right to have fun and peace like everyone does.

in the end that's what we are fighting for! fighting to build and secure a life that's peaceful and fun and full of love for as many people in the world as possible. without good things and good moments there would be no reason to keep fighting.

allow yourself some rest, and make sure your friends and everyone you love is resting as well, also assure both them and yourself that there is nothing wrong with taking a break and resting. you're not evil for being tired and needing to recharge.

stop being preachy on this subject and trying to force everyone to interact or make posts about the situation, some people have dedicated their accounts to specific things in order to compartmentalize and not have to deal w this mental anguish from doomscrolling 24/7.

not allowing yourself any peace rest or leisure will not end the war, it will not bring back the dead, will not aid the suffering of those people. the only thing not allowing yourself peace like that will do is soothe your conscience as if you were actually doing something when you aren't. you're just watching with your hands tied like everyone else. you can enjoy things and post about other stuff while still deeply caring and being in solidarity with the people of palestine, this is the internet you can do multiple things at once in different web spaces.

telling other people what they should or should not be doing on the internet while there's a war on won't fucking do anything except shame people for trying to stay sane. you have no idea how harmful this shit is for people with moral obsessions and compulsions, you're just causing more suffering to people who don't deserve it, just stop that shit. if you actually want to help then take action, call your representatives, show up to a protest, donate to a cause. anything else.

I feel like taylor swift's public persona is so bland and uninteresting I don't understand how people can be so obsessed with her. Like rationally I understand from a social and psychological standpoint why she has obsessed fans (for the same reason anyone else does) but I cannot see the appeal at all especially since most her music is equally as uninteresting. Like what are you obsessing over exactly? That's just some random npc holsted to stardom lol what is there to like...
