MERMAY DAY #3 - HAIR

So much for locking in. I honestly was quite hopeful that I could get it done but God Knows What At This Point got in the way so now I have three (3) mermaids where I should have 31.

I am quite happy with this piece. I attempted a sort of "digital painting" style that I haven't mastered but I've not failed at either. This piece had the most complex development process, with my initial concepts involving a mermaid with braids but due to time constraints I went with this anemone lookin thing you see now. I am not a fan of the design, as its literally a pink old lady with a big ol hairblob but I am mostly happy with this piece

I have finished #3 and have yet to upload it. Due to business with other stuff and attention deficit, I've yet to draw #4, #5 and #6. I want to be up to date by the 11th cause I have a really cool idea for "Guard" and I want as much time as possible to work on it

MERMAY DAY #2 - COSMIC

Due to a combination of fucked up scheduling and procrastination, I have already failed to draw a mermaid every day. the plan was to draw days #2 and #3 today, but I spent a bit more time than I wanted to on this piece so I had no time.

Fortunately, that extra time wasn't a waste! I am Extremely Happy with my cosmic mermaid- She's a rendered piece, which is a massive improvement, and i love the nebula texturing on her hair. I think the tentacles accentuate a sort of otherworldly/alien vibe, and the chains were a nice touch. I do thik that the anatomy could use some refinement and I could experiment with the hair to make it look more like a nebula, but apart from that i am proud

MERMAY DAY #1 - MIRROR

i had a lot to do today so my first ever #mermay drawing is not my best work. however, its not my worst! I really like the (attempted) dramatic lighting from the mirror, the use of Just Grey for simple rendering and if I was more skilled/ had more time then the pose could be really nice!

all in all, very nice :)
