What I assume you saw was someone refer to an anonymous ask as “Magic anon”

Some people don’t like to reveal their account off anon but like to make it known that they are responsible for multiple anonymous asks. Sometimes they’ll sign it with a word or an emoji like this:

and that’s why they might call them “magic anon”

Tumblr Live is basically the same thing as Tiktok Live but a lot worse and a lot more illegal. On Tumblr Live you can create a livestream or watch someone else’s stream and send messages in chat.

It sounds like your average streaming platform right?

Well here’s why you should turn it off every seven days; Tumblr Live uses malicious (illegal) code to steal your data! That’s why very few people use it, so make sure to keep turning it off every seven days.

Ok here's a tip. If you're new and are wondering why you follow people, like their stuff but then suddenly get blocked it might be because of this.

I just was followed by a group of pages

If you notice they all have the default avatar. So I went and checked their pages.

And you'll notice they all except one have the default page and are Untitled. This right here is one reason you are getting insta blocked by a lot of people on here. This is what almost all the porn bot pages look like. For that this is almost always an instant block by a lot of us on here.

Take a moment and try and personalize your page, even a little bit. Make it look like someone lives there.

Bot accounts and Real people with accounts.

I’m pretty sure the tumblr community is well aware of this problem and probably loads of other people have already made posts about this, so I’ll keep it brief.

So recently blogs like this keep appearing in my followers list (these are recent ones)

Now when you get a spam blogs or p*rn bots you’re supposed to blog them. But some these blogs are actual people who are new on tumblr and have the default icon, so you’re supposed to check before who block them. But here’s the problem…

some of these blogs don’t have anything. No posts, No description, No title. So you’re gonna automatically assume that these are spam and block them.

Now I hate fact that some of these blogs belong to actual people and I’ve been blocking and reporting on blogs like these for the past few days, and that they’re probably wondering why there being blocked or reported. ( sorry to the people who own blogs like these that I blocked you)

So a couple of tips for new blogs on this site,

1.You could change the title (a catchphrase, a favorite quote, a random sentence etc.) or type small description, or whatever random stuff you like!

2. You could change the your avator or icon (it be a picture of you, a cartoon, again it’s your choice do whatever)

3.If you’re not planning to frequently post stuff and just sign in to check out other people’s stuff, just put a put a post something like this just to show you’re new here.(again u can write down anything)

Do you know if there's a way to snooze Tumblr Live again? Also what's the best way to complain to Tumblr?

I'm mostly on iOS mobile and it looks like they replaced the "snooze Tumblr live" button with "snooze Tumblr Live on your dashboard"... so now I think I'm stuck with the little blue notification bubble on Tumblr Live that says NEW.

I’m afraid I just got this update today too and I haven’t configured a way around it yet :(

The best place to complain to the staff is here! Hold nothing back. I want this gone too.

You can still snooze tumblr live for 30 days though but you’ll still get the notifications from the option on the menu

How do tagging and liking interact with reblogging?

Like, okay, I get the general concepts of tagging and liking and reblogging, but I'm still confused.

If I reblog something and add tags, do the tags only apply to my reblog and not the post/reblog that I reblogged from?

If I like something, do I automatically like all the reblogs? If I like a reblog, do I automatically like the original post? Can I like one reblog in the chain without liking all the other reblogs/the original post?

If you reblog something and add tags the tags will only apply to your reblog. If someone else reblogs your reblog the tags will no longer be visible on their blog but will remain on yours.

If you like an original post then you don’t like all other reblogs and only the original poster will get a notification. If you like or reblog a reblog of a post the person you reblogged it from and the op will get notifications.

If you like a reblog chain then only the last person in the chain and the op will get notifications. (not the last person to add something to the chain the last person who reblogs the chain)

If you add tags to a post is would make it more likely to do something but even if you don’t people still might see it.

It will still cause things to circulate even if you only have bot followers though.

reblogging vs liking

i saw a post saying that if you see a post you really like(for example a really nice art piece) you should reblog it

if youre just going to reblog without adding any tags or amything isnt it better to like?

Tumblr doesn’t have an algorithm that allows posts to circulate in a way that isn’t reblogs. When you reblog a post someone is more likely to see it than if you like it.

Liking posts is useless in the context of more people seeing a post more, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t like posts! Liking a post is basically going “Nice post op!” and rebloging is like an upvote on reddit.

Artists struggle with circulation a lot because of this so if you read something you like or see art you like you should reblog it!

If you want something to circulate reblog it and if you want to just say “good job” then like it. Nobody will get offended if you don’t reblog a post you like, just make sure to reblog artists especially.
