COMPLETED: Because This is My First Life (2017) (10/10).

Starting this drama, I had no expectations. I didn’t think the Contract Marriage Premise could stand in 2017; I was wrong. Lee Min Ki and Jung Soo Min did such an amazing job bringing Nam Se Hee and Yoon Ji Ho to life. From the first episodes, they share such a sweet and tender understanding for each other. Nam Se Hee is such a deep and thoughtful character, but has a bit of an odd outlook on life. Lee Min Ki’s portrayal of such a quirky character is so heartwarming. He really delivers on a whole new level. His monologues throughout the drama are so deep and evocative.

Along with the development of the lead characters, the supporting characters have fairly unique and memorable character arcs. Aside from the contract relationship premise, Because This is My First Life also tries to tackle the three modern day females with different perspectives setup. This drama does this very well. The roles of Woo Su Ji and Yang Ho Rang are able to share in some very poignant moments throughout the drama. I enjoyed how the portrayal of these female characters provided a commentary of the modern day woman and the challenges that she faces from day to day.

Personally, this was one of my favorite dramas this year. It was just pure perfection from start to end. It astutely created characters that had special circumstances, but were still entirely relatable. A feat not many dramas can aptly pull-off. I can’t recommend this one enough!

I am indeed in tears! It was such a beautiful journey. It really feels like I am in part of the drama. I am gonna surely treasure every lesson this drama gave us. It absolutely changed some of my views in life.

To Sehee, my adorable baby, thank you for being the best male lead dramaland ever had. I truly love all your traits and behavior. You are one brave man who loves truthfully. You deserve all the love in the world.

To Jiho, the craziest girl, you are now my life coach! You made me realize that one should really do what they will make them happy. I’ll fill my star pocket with beautiful moments too!

To Sooji, the badass wonderwoman, You are every woman’s ideal of what they should become. You are the toughest character with such a soft heart, I have ever seen. I am glad you faced the world with your charisma and spirit. You go, girl!

To Horang, the crybaby, I totally love how you grew through this drama. From now on, I hope you do what will make you happy. You don’t have to envy other people, you have your bestest guy here!

To Ma Daepyo, the ideal boss, you totally changed my view of what should an employer must be. Haha. You are such a good friend to everyone. Even though, you are bit immature, you brought the real Sooji into this world and that’s what I am most thankful to you for.

To Wonseok, the cutie programmer, from the witty proposal to that lovely rejection, I know you are a wonderful guy. You don’t have to change yourself. I hope you get to launch your dream app soon!

To Woori, our lovely cat, thank you for taking care of Sehee. Thank you for bringing him and Jiho together. Don’t be sick anymore!

To PD-nim, I bow down to your creative and beautiful shots. Your directing was one of the nicest, I’ve seen. Thank you for creating a wonderful setting to the characters and for making the scenes a bit of everyone’s reality.

To Writer-nim, I totally and truthfully admire you with all my heart. Thank you for this wonderful drama you created. You are a creative genius. Thank you for the reality bits, the soccer references, the witty programming and math quotes, the wonderful stories and poems you used. I hope you continue creating beautiful masterpieces in the future. If by any chance, would you release a book version? Hehe.

To everyone who’s behind the drama, I love you guys! You are the who truly worked hard for this drama. Rest and have fun in your vacation!

To myself and the others who have seen the drama as their own story, we will make mistakes because it’s our first time, but we should always try as if it is our first. We should not live by the society’s standards. We should do what will always make us happy. We should not give up on love and think of it lightly. Let’s live this life fully because this is our first and probably the last.

I am gonna miss this drama so much ;_;
