no judgment and it possibly being a friendship love song for harry

anon who asked me about no judgment and it being about harry, i’m sorry but i answered you and then tumblr fucked me over and deleted it all… so your ask is gone but here is the content still !!!! bc i started it and now i can’t let it go until i’ve recreated and posted it

but yes. i am an absolute slut for the theory that no judgment is about harry, and it definitely might as well be about anyone else but let’s just indulge the theory shall we?? yes this is a shitpost don’t take anything seriously i’m drinking mimosas as i compile this dumpster fire

in that whole first mv niall is not involved in the relationship: he’s observing two people who have been in love for so long there’s no shame anymore. it’s awesome and also kinda gross to watch at moments but maybe i’m just queasy but i’m sorry if i don’t want to see scampi between an old person’s toes for them to then be eaten by their partner

the SECOND MV IS WHERE IT HIT ME IN THE CHEST

we have this kid from tiktok with a mop of hair that is just so fucking familiar who is a magically gifted little dancer, playing with his sister in his parent’s closet, trying on all of their clothes, not sticking to any fashion rules. the kid wears a dress, necklaces, heels, etc. and they’re clearly having the time of their lives together.

and as an added bonus, the kid is sassy as fuck and honestly how on brand

genuinely that mv is beautiful. that family is wholesome, those kids are thriving and happy, they’re surrounded with love and giving your kids that message is so fantastic i’m cry. and add on the stories told by harry about how he used to love playing dress-up …..

yk, this world is full of judgment and ppl are harsh to each other all the time, but this “you” really seems to get put through the wringer tho. how and why is literally anyone else judging them all the time? why is it implied they have to prove themselves? why can’t they just be themselves everywhere?

anyways, niall is there to be their comfort zone <3

this is exactly like every good long-term friendship: you don’t always stay in touch, you don’t always see each other, but then when you do, it’s like the last time was yesterday and nothing changed at all and you just pick up where you left off

and this post makes it very nicely clear that niall and harry have that kind of friendship too. we know they stay in touch, even though it’s nothing compared to how often they saw each other in the band, but that foundation of love will always be there

here’s the infamous “lover” - of course this can be used to talk about your love, a romantic relationship, etc. that’s not the general feeling this song gives me, though, bc of how casual their relationship is depicted. if “you” needs him, they’ll come over, and it’ll be a lot of fun, but then there can be months that go by without them seeing one another. they can stay over, they can leave without a word, anything. doesn’t sound like the healthiest romantic relationship if that’s what it’s about, unless it’s a fun friends w benefits situation, but yeah so all of that so say i think it’s more about friendship and before anyone tries to say sth like “oh come on lover for a friend??” i’ll say i treat my best friends like my lovers and i talk to them like we’re in long-term relationships and tbh a relationship exactly like is sung about here by niall, involving extreme familiarity and space to be yourself and no pressure at all to be or do anything

they have their own lives, they’re going down their own path in life, but they’ll always meet again

secrets, the outside world not allowed to know who they really are…

honestly, this is just such a sweet song.

no matter who it’s about, i love the sentiment: here with me, love, you can be whoever you want to be and i’ll never judge you for that; this is your comfort zone and you can take whatever you need.

imo it can be about any of the 1d boys, and i say 1d specifically bc of the scrutiny the person niall’s singing to clearly has to undergo all the time, like every single member of the band, every day of their lives. they’ve all struggled with that, with being able to be themselves without judgment.

so, why i’m pushed to think of harry when this song plays, on top of all the blatant parallels i can see and who knows maybe i’m imagining them but whatever it’s nice on this side of life is bc harry, to me, is someone who can present as confident but is essentially incredibly shy and seems to need this kind of confidence boost once in a while. thinking about perfect now yes i am. he’s a big weirdo and those close to him love him to pieces and clearly also feel the need to defend and protect him when necessary. this isn’t louis, who speaks up and fights his own battles, but someone who’d almost get trampled by the world bc he’d let himself get trampled and then say thanks. so then his friends and lover are there to make sure he’s okay, happy and thriving, dancing his cute little ass off
