well , he'd come to see her of course ! navigating the city was always difficult , but he didn't mind it if it meant he got to see cin. though when she opens the door to greet him , nubbins almost doesn't recognize her. the voice is the same ― which is a good thing , because if it hadn't been for that he certainly wouldn't have known it was her at all. there's a pinch of his brow , expression seemingly confused as he stares up , dark eyes searching her face as it seems he begins to put the pieces together.

cin looks ... different. && not different in the way most women would look without makeup on ― wait , should he call her a woman ? fingers quickly lock together , nubbins beginning to pick anxiously at some loose skin on his palm as he steps inside. ❛ h ― hey ... ❜ he speaks softly , timidly , continuing to stare up at her as he works through the realization silently.

❛ i didn't realize you ― u ― um ... ❜ he pauses , a scrunch of his features , head jerking to the side. ❛ n ― not that it m ― makes a difference ! i just ― uh ... didn't know. ❜

It was not every day that somebody knocked at the stage door of the cabaret. In fact, it had never happened before. It was the end of the afternoon and the queens were slowly starting to get ready for the dinner-show. Except for Hyacinthe who was, as usual, late. No matter how much everyone was constantly telling her to hurry, she would never learn. Even the owner of the cabaret and the host of the show did not have this power over her - they loved her too much to really get mad at her for this.

Wearing only her black and pink sweatpants and nothing else, she got up to head towards the stage door as her sisters laughed at her lateness again. "It's fine! I have time!" she laughed with them and left the cluster of the changing room.

She had barely started preparing, hiding her brown hair under a wig cap and sticking the transparent tape up her temples to lift her features. Only when she opened the door and her skin was hit by the chilly air of New York did she regret going for the door. Eyes traveled down very briefly only to be met by the confused glance of a seemingly lost Nubbins. A bright smile appeared on the queen's lips. "Hey, baby!" she exclaimed and moved aside to let him in.

She did not realize that Nubbins had never seen her out of drag and that he probably did not even recognize her. "What's up? What are you doing here?"
