I was listening to Rookie earlier and had a little thought about it in regards to Fuuta.

I've said before that Fuuta tends to wear quite covered clothing and "concealing items" (his mask, hoodie, eye coverings, the blanket at the end of Bring It On). In contrast, the Miku in Rookie wears revealing clothing to show off her tattoos, the "permanent marks" on her left by others. I know that the creators have told us not to look into the cover choices too much but I wonder if 03 covering Rookie is meant to signify him finally laying himself bare and not hiding away from his sin/judgement anymore.

oooooor maybe I'm thinking about it too deeply and it's because hehe tattoos are kinda similar to graffiti

Point of No Return

My piece for the abSINthe 0703 anthology that was exhibited at the MILGRAM web-only event!

I tried something kinda experimental which was definitely a bit risky as someone with little comic experience and a 10 page limit 😅 I hope you like it!

While writing my response to that last ask I remembered the short-lived mad passion I had last year to write about Kazui and Fuuta as character foils, only to end up never finishing it because adhd

I even went to libraries to read academic sources 😭

Do you think Kazui would be able to be himself around Fuuta?

Since Fuuta relies on him for comfort it only seems to be perpetuating the cycle from Cat where Kazui suppresses his own desires of being vulnerable... Just a thought

If keeping with T2 canon... probably not.

Part of what I find interesting in pairing Kazui with Fuuta is that they're foils when it comes to themes of masculinity and adulthood. They both have complicated relationships with masculinity and play up their performance of it because it is what society expects (I am a big defender of the gender interrogation question and don't think it's as silly as people make it out to be).

In a super happy and healthy world they might be able to work out their troubles with masculinity and adulthood together but especially with the situations we've voted for in Milgram, I don't see that happening. Realistically, I think T2 Kazufuu would have Fuuta's reliance on Kazui for comfort just really heighten his stress of having to perform the part of the perfect adult male protector. I've been playing around a bit with T3 KazuFuu where this gets flipped and Fuuta is the one in the saving/protecting role but of course I don't think this is ideal and I don't know if Kazui would be receptive to it at all.

So yeah, while I do sometimes depict them where Kazui is more vulnerable and open with Fuuta, I don't think this would realistically happen. Maybe there's a crazy alternate route we could have voted for where that may have been feasible but idk.
