aarontwds:
Aaron laughed. “Hey, if it was you making ramen I’d still have come over,” he teased. It was true. Aaron appreciated his neighbor on the other side, of course, but he’d never go over for dinner. Even after all this time, he still felt a little disconnected from some of Alexandria’s other members. Luckily, it’d been long enough for him not to care that much.
He watched as Noah took a seat, reaching over for the wine glass full of water as Noah’s knee brushed against his. There was some idle little thought in the back of his head to lean into the touch, but Aaron ignored it, though if his leg accidentally settled against Noah’s? It wasn’t his fault that most kitchen tables weren’t meant to seat two men with long legs.
“Well, Gracie found a caterpillar on our front porch which took up most of the morning,” he said, the smile on his face fond. "But otherwise, I had a quiet watch and council didn’t meet this afternoon so I had some time to clean. I’m sure your day was much more exciting,“ he said, raising a brow in question.
“A caterpillar! I bet that was exciting.” Noah tried hard to hide his smile behind he glass of water, but failed miserably. That was, he reckoned, about the cutest thing he’d heard since coming to Alexandria. “Did she name it? I bet she named it didn’t she? If not, she should have.” He seemed to think about it for a second, fork hovering above his plate. “Mortimer. That’s a good name for a caterpillar.”
“My day was busy. I spent some time helping to till the soil out near the back gate to get it ready for spring planting. “After that, Rosita came by and asked if I’d cover for her on the gate for a couple hours. Then, Eugene wanted…well, I don’t know what he wanted, because I can’t half-understand what he says, but it had something to do with a radio.” Noah smiled then, passing bread over for Aaron to take.
“But enough about our boring days. You should eat, and then tell me what an amazing cook I am. I never get tired of hearing that.” He was teasing again, but it was so easy to make Aaron smile – and he liked seeing his friend a little less stressed. “After dinner, let’s go for a walk. Just around…” No destination in mind. “What do you think?”

mxndwitch:

The quinjet had landed a few minutes ago, but Wanda was still busying herself inside. She didn’t have to take any bags with her, nor did the jet need anyone to take care of it, because it would just autopilot back to wherever Pepper wanted it to be, but she felt bad about being here. Clint had been kind enough to offer her to stay with him and his family for a couple of days, until SHIELD had found places for them all to stay, given the compound had been destroyed. But given it had been five years since he last saw his family, Wanda felt like she was disturbing their family time with her presence and that made her feel uncomfortable. She had never met Laura or the kids, because Clint and her had just lived their own lives after Sokovia, only checking in on each other every now and then. Two years on the run had made a visit impossible, so this was her first formal introduction to them and she was nervous about their reaction. Clint’s youngest son had been named after Pietro, so she wondered how much Laura knew about the Maximoffs. Maybe she wasn’t the safest person to be around kids.
Brushing some dust from one of the consoles, she finally activated the autopilot and walked outside, hands in the pockets of her coat. She possessed entirely nothing at this point. Only the clothes she had worn the day she died and those she had been given for Tony’s funeral. That was all. It fit into one small bag that hung around her shoulder and reminded her of her time on the streets. Another new beginning, once again picking up the pieces to rebuild her life. She was so weary of that. To be honest, she was weary of everything and even more so, when she saw Clint with his children. This was a life she had almost forgotten over the years; what it meant to have a family of your own, to be at home somewhere. She wasn’t just lacking material items, but much more than that. If only she could have stayed dead. Walking up to Clint and his family, she said hi to the kids and politely introduced herself to Laura, thanking her for allowing Wanda to stay.
@hubrisdivine
Laura was, for all intents and purposes, the perfect woman. She was an amazing friend, a wonderful mother, and had been a good wife back before his work took a toll on their marriage. Still, he wouldn’t trade his time with her for anything in the world – especially now that he knew what it felt like to lose his family. She was also gracious, agreeing to let Wanda come and stay with them, even though she and the kids were barely acclimated to being back among the living.
“Hey you,” Clint smile as Wanda approached, giving her a moment to introduce herself to the kids and Laura before he reached out to take the bag from her. “Come on. I’ll show you where you can put your stuff. It’s not much…but it’s private. There’s a room above the garage that we converted back…” Before Thanos. Before they’d lost everything.
--
It was hours later when he came to find her again, sitting down beside her on the front porch. In his hands, Clint held two glasses of lemonade and passed one over with a smile that didn’t make it to his eyes. “You get settled? Laura told me to tell you that dinner’s at six She’s making meatloaf.” His nose scrunched up, shoulder shrugging. “It’s not as bad as it sounds, promise.”
“How are you doing, Wanda? Really?” It was hard, an adjustment, having everyone back. Clint wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world, but it was different. He was drowning in his own guilt so much that it was hard just to enjoy his children being home. Lila wanted him to resume their training, but he’d barely touched a bow since returning home. The things he did while they were gone, not being able to save Nat, not being able to save his own family…it was swallowing him whole. “You know you can tell me the truth, right? I’m not expecting you to be rainbows and sunshine here.”

waywardsignns:
That … wasn’t entirely expected. Looking at him as he explained himself, she couldn’t help but feel skeptical, knowing damn well that … well this kind of stuff just didn’t happen to her. Not really. Looking at the large television for just a moment, Ella found herself sighing after a brief pause, looking back to the blond haired man for just a moment before offering him a faint smile with a shrug, “No … no sorry I just-” stopping before she could go too much into detail, she licked her lips. “I’ll take some sweet tea, if its not too much trouble…” and if she hadn’t made too much of an ass out of herself … but that wasn’t something she’d say just yet.
This time when he smiled it was wide and genuine, no trace of any ulterior motive to be found. “Yeah? Okay, good. One sweet tea coming right up.” Noah left her table to track down a waitress or a bartender and ordered her a sweet tea and himself a beer, and then made his way back to her side. “It’s coming up. Apparently they’re busy because of the game.” He gestured toward the chair across from where she sat. “Can I sit with you? I, mean, I get it if you don’t want some stranger at your table, but…and I bet I sound like a creep, don’t I?” He held out his hand for her to shake, hoping to salvage things. “I’m Noah.”
