I think, at the end of the day, makes the CaitVi kinktober fiasco so interesting to me is not just the none kink left October, not just the purity culture of it all, not just the misunderstanding of what makes kinktober kinktober.

It's that in less than 10 years we've gone from 50 Shades of Grey being among the most popular franchises to trying to sanitize everything that could even be a little problematic. If you want to write cnc with a laundry list of ways to make sure you feel moral reading/writing thats fine. You want to run an event with those rules, fine but be prepared to clowned on. You want to call it kinktober that is a problem.

I just find it deeply interesting and troubling that people feel so comfortable to police others in not just Fandom spaces, but also kink spaces. Play spaces. Pretend spaces that are free from societal expectations. Acting as if depicting a messy cnc/dubcon/noncon scene is the exact same as wanting that to happen irl is just absurd to me. I cant imagine feeling the need to have such control over what other people write. And no, saving the children is not a valid reason to want a list of rules so involved. I was in several spaces as a teen that I maybe shouldn't have been in. I ended up on real written porn websites at like 14 (not AO3, actual lit erotica sites where there was basically all porn I still frequent tbh) and Im fine.

I find it deeply troubling that this is becoming the norm. Or maybe reasserting itself as a norm is the better phrasing. Its simply a dangerous game to assert what is exactly morally correct. Its a moving target. The circle will only ever narrow.

Porn is as old as humans. Weird kinks are as old as humans. Its normal and okay.

Ouran high school was my favourite anime when I was like 14 which is really funny because thats also the age I basically was in a Haruhi fujioka situation. Not like fully literally but the meat of it was the same

I was the one single middle-class kid in a super high-end rich kid private academy with like pressed uniforms and building wings and everything. I didnt get any sort of scholarship, my dad just got a job as a teacher there and teachers kids got to enroll for free because the tuition was like 30 grand a year and you arent affording that on a teacher salary. So I understand her on a very visceral level and perhaps enjoyed OHSHC so much because she was SOOO me fr. These damn rich people

being anti ai is making me feel like in going insane. "you asked for thoughts about your characters backstory and i put it into chat gpt for ideas". studies have proven its making people dumber. "i asked ai to generate this meal plan". its causing water shortages where its data centers are built. "ill generate some pictures for the dnd campaign". its spreading misinformation. "meta, generate an image of this guy doing something stupid". its trained off stolen images, writing, video, audio. "i was talking with my snapchat ai-" theres no way to verify what its doing with the information it collects. "youtube is impletmenting ai based age verification". my work has an entire graphics media department and has still put ai generated motivational posters up everywhere. ai playlists. ai facial verification. google ai microsoft ai meta ai snapchat ai. everyone treats it as a novelty. every treats it as a mandatory part of life. am i the only one who sees it? am i paranoid? am i going insane? jesus fucking christ. if i have to hear one more "well at least-" "but it does-" "but you can-" im about to lose it. i shouldnt have to jump through hoops to avoid the evil machine. have you no principles? no goddamn spine? am i the weird one here?
