It’s okay to just start writing the story btw. Completely unprepared. That’s what drafts are for. Please don’t overwhelm yourself with other peoples advice on what you “should” or “shouldn’t” do before starting because you’ll never create anything. You can just start.

I love editing. I love giving extra special attention to my story, because I feel more connected to it.
I hate editing. It takes forever and it's boring.
I love editing. I can actually see my story being strengthened and it gives me confidence as a writer.
I hate editing. I can see all the things I misspelled or fumbled with and question how I did that in the first place.
I love editing-

Pretty In Pink
Tumblr media
Some of these pink beauties have been beloved for years. Others are ARCs I recently scored at Yallfest in November. A couple were even written by wonderful friends of mine 💕
In honor of Valentine’s Day, it only felt right to take a moment to spread some love to all types of books—no matter which route they took to be published. But instead of writing a dissertation about book bans and the flaws of the industry, I’m choosing to appreciate that we have more worlds to escape to, more shadow daddies to appreciate, and more unlikeable heroines to emulate than ever before.
Since this is the one day I allow myself to be corny, let me leave it at this. Whether you’re spending the day with your book boyfriend or your actual partner, I hope you do whatever you can to shroud yourself in the effervescent giddiness that love has to offer.

House of Flame and Shadow
Tumblr media
Dates Read: 01/30/24 - 02/08/24
“But what is eternal, what is made of love … that can never be destroyed.” • After the sequel left us on the highest of cliffhangers, I could not wait to get my hands on this book. And I certainly wasn’t the only one! From the moment I started reading, I was on a rollercoaster of emotions. Now that I’ve had a few days to digest, it was (almost) everything I hoped it would be!!
My heart broke for Hunt once again, and I hope he never experiences another moment of pain in his whole life. I was constantly wondering what curveball Bryce would throw at me next because we know she’s always scheming. The crossover moments felt perfectly balanced and I loved seeing some of my all time favorite characters work together. All while learning so much about the greater SJM universe that my head nearly exploded.
Without spoiling anything, I’ll say that one couple cemented themselves as one of my all time favorites. A few of the lead characters have some serious thinking to do. And I’m so excited that everybody is now such a badass. • E’s rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Throne of Glass
Tumblr media
Dates Read: 01/01/24 - 01/16/24
“Some people just need a high five. In the face. With my knives.” • Finished my first read of 2024 a few days ago and boy am I glad I spent it with none other than the legendary Celaena Sardothien. Not only is she a badass, but she’s gorgeous and funny and clever. I can tell she’s going to be one of my all time favorite protagonists. Especially since she’s in the center of a angsty love triangle—one where I still can’t decide who to ship more.
I’ve had this series on my TBR for ages, so the new year was the perfect time to start. And with CC3 coming out this month, I figured it was time to finally dive into the last of the unread SJM series—juuust in case (iykyk).
I know I’ve only just scratched the surface of this series, but I feel like I’m truly on the rollercoaster now 🎢 • E’s rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

The Unmaking of June Farrow
Tumblr media
Dates read: 12/27/23 - 12/31/23
“I had only one ambition in my simply built life, and that was to be sure the Farrow curse would end with me.” • The best way to end the year is with a five star read! This was the final book I fit in last year and I devoured it with hours to spare. I didn’t know much about this book when I picked up a copy at Yallfest. And I was even fortunate enough to meet Adrienne Young and have her sign it!
I’m glad I went in not knowing much about this story because it unfolded in such a beautiful and unique way.
The women in June Farrow’s family are known for their thriving flower farm and a mysterious madness that has touched every generation. After her grandmother passes away, June can no longer ignore the fact that her own hallucinations are growing more frequent. And it isn’t long before she’s thrust into the heart of a mystery that spans decades.
The idyllic small town setting in the middle of the Blue Ridge Mountains was so atmospheric, built with vivid descriptions and eloquent metaphors. Combined with some light time traveling, a mystifying murder mystery, and the most unique second-chance romance I’ve ever heard of. Everything related to the strong themes surrounding the importance of cultivating your own happiness, the transformative power of motherhood, and how love is so powerful it can defy the rules of time. • E’s rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
