Wind’s Course (Agnès’ Theme)

                                        hurdy’s transliteration It is done, this marks every character theme getting their sing-able English version written out by me. I released one of them per year since 2017, reflecting how my mental health works in general. The cycle ended up not being broken after all. I cross-referenced the original kanji lyrics (which I will add below the Read More along with some notes about it, and should add to the FF Wiki too along with other details of the original song since there’s nothing there), and a translation in Amara, along with using Rikaichamp for Firefox.

闇を纏い微睡む 水晶の煌めきに やがては強く もっと強く 祈りを捧ぐ 誰もが皆 未だ知らない その風の行方は… I don’t actually know what “transliteration” is exactly supposed to entail but I used it the past years so I guess I’m using it still. REVO, assuming he wrote all the lyrics, the genius, the mad lad, did a fair few interesting things with this song. Agnès refers to Tiz a couple times in the song, first two times as キミ and then as 貴方. Not only does this reflect her growing fondness for him, but the “kimi” are somehow apparently supposed to be each written with different words despite sounding the same- the first as 希望 (hope), the second as 勇者 (hero). I’m curious to check this in the official Luxendarc Daikikou thing because that’s kinda ballsy. But I’m not sure where I’d have access to that. He also writes tomo, usually written as 友 as in tomodachi, as 仲間 (nakama; companions) though keeping the previous sound. So Agnès refers to her partymates as friends, but with an undercurrent of being close companions.

Also the word 行方 (yukue), present in the title and at the closing line of the chorus, is usually translated as “course”, “whereabouts”, or the “ward” in “windward”, but it seems like it can also be translated as “outcome”. So she might not necessarily sing about where the wind goes, but also what the wind will result in, what will be the outcome of its increasingly mighty blow. Finally, or I could go on forever otherwise, the first line of the song is also the first line of the last chorus, except in the second case she adds a に after it. Basically, it places her in the area where the crystal is with just that. So with a single word, we go from a general statement about the crystals enshrouded in darkness, to her being in the chamber with them, casting her prayers on it. So I was happy to be able to reflect that in my translation, using the same sentence and just adding to it at the end. Anyway I really love Agnès and I love that she is canonly a vegetarian! I love her so much!!

Kingdom Hearts furries 🐾

Mikado and Layle (protagonist of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers) share a voice actor and they’re both really hot so naturally I had to draw Mikado as a Crystal Bearer and in Layle’s cool outfit (  ๑´ ∀ `๑) I always thought about doing that but never got around to it. This is like the best piece of art I’ve done to date lol    bonus related VA jokes under the cut

Me only uploading one of these per year kinda shows how together I’ve got my life. Which is not a whole lot. Hopefully I’ll get to do Agnès’ this year and break that cycle. I really really love Tiz and I hope you do too. As per usual, I put this together so it can rhyme and match rhythm as much as possible. primary refs: video description - smashbrolink’s comment Also, as I did not find the original lyrics in hiragana, I wrote them down past the Read More. I worked on and finished this a year ago, but due to personal problems I... am only finally making myself upload it now. I’ll post refs when I’m not having anxiety/circulation issues. Again, this is a transliteration, a non-direct translation that matches rhythm and rhymes so you can sing it too.
