I finally watched the Mean Girls musical remake last weekend. Is it too late to say things about it? Maybe, but I have Things I want to write about it. Also I think I'm in love with Reneé Rapp?

Only the very oldest people remembered a time when humans could see in color. They often tell us stories of how vivid the sky was when the sun sets. They remember the colors of the leaves when the season turns. They recall the eye colors of their loved ones and even their own.
We can’t understand what they’re talking about, but we nod and go along with what they’re saying.
Color is a strange concept to us. Why would anything need to have color? It sounds horrifying. People are judged by the color of their skin, hair, or eyes. Judged by the color of their clothes. Some things get more attention just because their colors were bright and in your face.
Maybe there was some greatness to be able to see colors. The birds seem to think that it matters to them. Our scientists tell us that the wavelengths in which some feathers reflect matters greatly to their mating ritual. That’s what the books tell us anyway.
I don’t know if I completely believe what they’re saying. Why do we need to see something that seems completely useless?
The world is fine the way it is. We don’t need to go back to that time again.

This site: What the fuck is with all these animated shows getting terrible live-action remakes? We should start remaking live action media as cartoons to balance the scales.

You don't need to believe that people as a whole are good or well-intentioned to be an optimist about fixing climate change.
A lot of the time, it's enough to trust in this: people hate being screwed over. And even more than that, they hate feeling screwed over.
Climate change is actively screwing over almost every single person on this planet, whether they know it or not. We just need to keep making sure that people do know that they're getting screwed over, along with all their loved ones, and who's doing it.
Spite and righteous anger will honestly do a lot of the rest.

Today's prompt from The Most Dangerous Writing Prompt Generator is "It was time. She’d fought against it for so long"
-
It was time. She’d fought against it for so long. This is what she’d been born to do.
Or at least, that was what her parents told her all her life. She’s meant to be the greatest magician to ever grace the stage.
Except she never wanted to be a magician. Yes, sure, her parents were great magicians of their own and they’ve trained her since she could grasp a deck of cards to do magic and create illusions. It’s in her blood.
She doesn’t hate magic, not really. She actually loved it. But something about her parents expecting her, almost forcing her to be a magician really turned her off the whole thing.
However, she would find herself unconsciously palming an object in her hand, as if it were second nature. She’d shuffle a deck of cards when she’s bored and do all sorts of tricks and forced cuts without even realizing it. She loved magic. She just didn’t love having to do what her parents told her to do.
So she stayed away from it. For as long as she can. But the decks of cards and the cups and rings and ropes and various other magic props that are sitting right by her desk in her office tell another story. She craved it. Craved seeing that look of wonder and suspense in her audience’s eyes.
She sighed and looked at the email on her laptop.
Fine, she thought. I’ll sign up and appear on America’s Got Talent. She needed the money anyway. Being a software developer isn’t as fulfilling as she thought it would be.

Today's writing exercise is Flash Fiction Friday #8. I've been going through a mental health slump the past week (thanks menstrual cycle) and writing flash fiction with prompts has been really helping me get out of that.

She is brightness, she is luminance. She will hypnotize you and drag you into her world. Her name...
... is Light Mode.
This drawing turned out a little more serious than I had originally intended. I get so many comments about using light mode for my computer and phone that it became the inspiration for some new artwork!
