“Connecting People, Creating Community”
Left: Liz Veyhl (Founder)          Middle: Manon Zouai (Studio Manager)                                          Right: Natalie Aulvin (Relationship Manager)
Small World Yoga, rooted in the Baptiste-style methodology, is the first of its kind in Nashville, TN providing an outlet for everyone to practice yoga.
My favorite kind of yoga is the kind where you can walk in the door and feel completely at ease knowing there’s no judgement, there are no expectations, and there’s no preconceived notion that you have to be a certain way to fit in.
At SWY studio, everyone fits in and everyone is welcome.  You can take a yoga class here for only $5 dollars.  If you can’t afford that don’t worry, you can still practice at SWY.  They offer heated power vinyasa classes, as well as non-heated vinyasa and restorative classes.  The door is open to anyone.  Even if you have never taken a yoga class before, Small World Yoga will welcome you with open arms.
Founder and Executive Director, Liz Veyhl, created Small World Yoga back in 2014 and since then it has grown exponentially.  It went from one teacher and one outreach location to now over 80 teachers and 71 outreach locations here in Nashville, TN.
After spending quality time in Kenya and seeing yoga happening in so many A typical settings, Liz was really inspired to bring that back to her own community.  She also felt like yoga wasn’t reaching the majority of the population and she wanted to help change that.
She said, “If it can happen in Kenya, it can happen anywhere in the world.”
Before Liz went to Kenya, she was serving at a woman’s recovery center in Nashville, TN and said, “I felt like it was some of the most meaningful teaching that I was doing with yoga.”
In early 2017, Liz got a really exciting call from the Boedecker Foundation.  They wanted to know if  having an actual space would align with her mission and vision.  Liz actually had a board meeting scheduled for that night, and when she told the rest of her team about it, she said “everybody’s jaw dropped.”  They all said YES, “why wouldn’t we do this,” and the rest is history.
Small World Yoga studio opened its doors on April 7th, 2018 and is Nashville’s very first non-profit yoga studio.
Small World Yoga is located at: 1701 17th Ave. S, Nashville, TN 37212.
Parking is available behind the building at the corner of Wedgewood Ave & 17th Ave S.
When you take a class at SWY studio, you are not only serving yourself, but you are serving the community as well.
Liz said it beautifully,
“When you walk in the door and you donate here to practice, you’re putting someone else on a mat outside of here.”
Small World Yoga has over 80 teachers on board serving over 70 different outreach locations in Middle TN.
They serve everywhere from libraries, parks, farmers-markets, prisons, support centers, high schools, shelters, etc.
“We believe that yoga can have a positive impact on both the mental and physical wellness of people and that everyone deserves a chance to experience that.”
Check out where all they serve here.
If you are seeking community and connection, or maybe you just want to practice yoga somewhere, you can easily find that at SWY studio.
“We’re committed to growth and empowerment and wanting this to be a safe place for people to try new things. We get so many first timers walking through the doors here and we want people to know that yeah, yoga is for them, it’s accessible, it’s affordable, but it is also physically accessible if you’ve never tried it before.”
Small World Yoga hosts several events throughout the year and they also offer Yoga Teacher Trainings too, which I HIGHLY recommend if you are considering it.
The next big event is the Music City Yoga Festival happening on November 10th, 2018 at Rocketown.
Check out the turnout from last year.

Looking to get involved? I got you covered. You can do that here.
Small World Yoga has been a huge blessing in my life. I am so grateful for all the people in the community that have made an impact on my life and continue to make an impact on so many others.
I believe there is power behind acceptance, power behind seeing someone for where they are and not for where they have been, and power behind supporting someone and giving them a chance.  Small World Yoga does that beautifully.
WE RISE BY LIFTING OTHERS "Connecting People, Creating Community" Small World Yoga, rooted in the Baptiste-style methodology, is the first of its kind in Nashville, TN providing an outlet for everyone to practice yoga.

“SALUD A TRAVES DE AGUA” is the motto at H2O Spa Balnearios and it means “Health Through Water.”
This spa features peaceful vibes, lots of colorful water, and a sauna with heat that will blow your mind.
H2O Spa Balnearios is located on the ground floor of the Hotel Meliá Sevilla in Seville, Spain.
The amenities include:
Steam Room/Turkish Bath
Sauna with Chromotheraphy
Massage rooms for treatments
Contrast showers
Foot Bath
Jacuzzis
Cold water pool
Warm water pool with waterfall
Relax area
Thermal bank
Facial & body treatments
Fitness room
I was there on a really quiet day so luckily for me, I pretty much had the spa all to myself. Needless to say, I was in ZEN heaven.
The vibes are so peaceful and relaxing.
The thermal bank (sauna) and Turkish Bath (steam room) are some of the best that I have ever been in.
This particular sauna features Chromotheraphy which is the science of using colors to adjust body vibrations to frequencies that result in health and harmony. The color blue helps with stress, nervous tension, muscle cramps, and headaches.
The turkish bath (steam room) was another amazing feature of the spa. The heat was perfect and the lights gave off a really calming effect.
FYI: ❤ Steam rooms are detoxifying and rejuvenating. The high temperatures provoke sweating which causes the expulsion of uric acid and toxins in the body, which then improves the filtering actions of the kidneys, allowing the prime respiratory tracts to get maximum hydration while also making the skin more elastic and glowing. The heat also releases muscular tension, relaxes the mind, and it produces endorphins. ❤
The pools and jacuzzis felt amazing too.
I could have stayed here all day long.
My entire experience was incredible. I wish I could have stayed longer than 60 minutes but other than that, I wouldn’t have changed a thing.
I did not get a massage or facial done, so I can’t speak for those types of services but if they are anything like the spa, they are sure to be worth every centavo.
Thank you H2O Spa Balnearios for an amazing experience!
See you next time!

One of the most luxurious essential oils in the world: YLANG YLANG
One of the most luxurious essential oils in the world: YLANG YLANG
Ylang Ylang known as (Cananga odorata) is an essential oil that comes from the flower petals of a large, tropical ylang ylang tree.
When I first saw this bright yellow beauty hanging from the tree, I had no idea what it was. Andrew Barnard, executive director of BodyHoliday, was our tour guide and told us about it. I love learning about plants and herbs that grow on tropical lands. There’s…

AYURVEDIC cooking continued: KITCHARI
AYURVEDIC cooking continued: KITCHARI
Kitchari means mixture and it is extremely nourishing and easy to digest. It is composed of two grains and is basic to the Ayurvedic way of life. Kitchari is composed of basmati rice and mung dal but chef’s can put their own creative spin on the dish as well so although this is the original mixture, you might find that other chef’s use different ingredients.
Kitchari is the preferred food when…

The Redmond Salt Caves are over 150 MILLION years old dating all of the way back to the Jurassic Period.
Watch the short video of us driving through the cave.
I am standing 450ft. straight vertical to the surface of the cave. I am on the 3rd level and when I look up, there is another level directly above my head.  There are 4 levels and each level is divided by 80 ft. of salt. In terms of east and west, the cave is 1,500 ft. wide. In terms of north and south, it is 2 miles long and 5 thousand ft. thick. The deepest point is at 650 ft. The tunnel is 14 miles long.
Workers are carrying loads back and forth that weigh 60 to 70 tons above me and I can barely hear them.
I am surrounded by a ton of 100% sea salt straight from the earth. 14 miles to be exact.
The cave is in pristine condition. It runs smoothly 20 hours a day and night. Workers are loading 60 trucks a day filled with 70 tons of material.  They do about 3,000 tons a day,  roughly 12,000 tons a week, and just about 600,000 tons a year.
It smells fresh and looks really clean. Despite what some people think about mining, in this particular case, the mine wasn’t dirty and didn’t look dangerous at all.  It was very well managed and operated. The people working for the company are passionate about what they do and it shows.
My tour guide, Kyle Bosshardt, has been working there for over 30 years.
“How did you guys first find all of this salt,” I asked.
Early pioneers found it because “salt was exposed to the surface on different parts of the land and the animals were flocking to it.”
Bosshardt, being from the original family of this salt mine, told us a cool story about the native people.
“There’s some ancient dwellings down there.  The experts estimated that when they were discovered that the native people had been adbandoned from those dwellings 1600 years prior to their discovery. Salt from this deposit was founded in those dwellings so because of that we know the native people were using this salt source 1600 plus years ago.”
“How?” I asked.
“The blueprint matched here. Freemont Indiands are native to this area, they were mining the salt and trading to the Anasazi’s for some commodity. “
The Redmond salt deposit begins about 30 feet below the surface and it is covered by a layer of bentonite clay. The clay protects it from erosion and from the possibility of contamination. Bentonite Clay is volcanic ash that has fallen into a body of seawater. It is packed with trace minerals and health benefits. When the clay comes in contact with a chemical, heavy metal, or toxin, the clay will absorb the bad stuff and release its minerals for the body to use. Bentonite also helps get oxygen to cells as it pulls excess hydrogen and allows the cells to replace it with oxygen instead.
Bentonite clay uses magnetic energy to purify whatever it comes in contact with.
There are over 65 different sea minerals in Redmond salt.
A short list of sea Salt health benefits include:
muscle recovery
breath control
heart health
electrolyte balance
skin inprovement
inflammation
detox
According to NaturalFoodSeries.com, “Salt is a unique compound that possesses anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and mucolytic properties, which helps promote the health of our respiratory system significantly.”
“What is the difference between iodized salt and Redmond salt?” I asked.
Bosshardt said,
“For health benefits, these different colors that you see in the salt, are 65 different sea minerals that fell out and deposited when this salt mineral formed.  These minerals are minerals that are good for you, they are minerals that your body needs, uses, and processes. Lots of times, negative health affects that come from salt, like people will tell you that you retain water, it causes high blood pressure, things like that, and lot of the reasons for that is because those salts are no longer salts. The body doesn’t recognize it, you can consume it, but the body doesn’t know how to process it because it has been changed so much. Things are added things are taken away so it thinks it is a foreign object and your body doesn’t know how to deal with it and that’s what causes the adverse side effects.”
So basically, if you’re exposed to a bunch of bad salt, you are receptive to the adverse health affects and that is where a lot of people get mistaken about what “kind” of salt they are actually putting in their body. A lot of times, when it is a salt issue people are having, the salt those people are loading up on, isn’t really salt but other things that have been added to it.
If you expose yourself to the good salt, you are actually exposing yourself to all of the good trace minerals that comes from salt. If, not, then you could be exposing yourself to other kinds of salts that your body doesn’t know how to break down.
So…choose your salt wisely maybe?? I have actually never thought about salt like this before so this was all extremely interesting to me.
At Redmond Minerals, their salt is 100% pure and all natural, straight from the mine.
“This is 100% natural sea salt.  We don’t add anything to it, we don’t take anything away from it.”
“Is Redmond salt like Himalayan salt?”
Kyle said,
“The big difference between Himalayan and ours is sulfur. They both have sulfur as one of those 65 different sea minerals but ours is almost not even registered, I mean we are talking about one hundreds of a thousand percent, whereas Himalayan salt is quite high in sulfur.”
Kyle said that if you put their salt out and Himalayan salt out in front of an animal, more than likely, the animal will go to Redmond salt first because the animals can smell the sulfur.
Redmond Minerals salt is America’s only unrefined ancient sea salt and they believe it is unlike any other salt on earth.
Trophy Rock
Deicing salt
Redmond Minerals has a bunch of their own homemade products for sale including:
Real Salt
Earthpaste
Earthpowder
Redmond Clay
Bath Salt
Earthcure
Thanks for the tour Kyle!
I have personally already tried the salt and the clay that I got from the store and I love it. It is the best salt I have ever tasted.
Have you ever visited a salt cave? If so, share where in the comments below!

Living consciously in charge of presence is the key. No matter what, it’s the battles of thinking too much in the past or living too much in the future that prohibits us from ultimate consciousness. We are humans and we thrive off experience yet habitually it isn’t always good. To feel free and okay with whatever moment happens next, good or bad, is the ultimate magic life has to offer but so…

48 HOURS IN THE AIR LATER…
COMO SHAMBHALA ESTATE
and I am grinning ear to ear just so grateful that someone is there waiting to get me!  After all, flying all that way by myself was a big deal for me.  I don’t have the experience that I do now.  Nowadays, I fly everywhere but back then, I was just getting started.  When I landed, I was pretty nervous about what the experience was going to be like.  I’d like tell you guys that I did all kinds of research and I was feeling really safe and secure about my decision but that wasn’t really the case.  It was a toss-up between Bali and Thailand and I chose Bali super last-minute.  Now don’t get me wrong, as far as the hotel’s themselves, I knew them backwards and forwards but the actual country, not so much.
The money exchange process alone was wild.  For every 10 US dollars I had, I got 130,000 Indonesian Rupiah’s.  The first few transactions I made were pretty foggy to be honest.  I am pretty sure I tipped really well but I’ll never know.  I was shaking like a leaf.
Out of desperation, I found myself completely lost and ironically enough from this experience, from being lost…I found myself.
I hope you enjoy my adventure.
It took about an hour to get to my hotel from the airport.  When I arrived, I could barely keep my eyes open.  Where I come from, I am exactly 13 hours behind so needless to say, I was trying to play catch up from the moment I arrived.  When I saw my room, I was in love.  It was so perfect in every way.  They also leave you little notes on the bed that are handmade from the local Balinese “janur” grass on the property.  I kept every single one of them. 🙂  I will probably make another post entirely on them because they are so special to me!!
I was so excited to crawl in bed and sleep.
I highly recommend if you do Bali, try to stay for at least 2 weeks.  You’ll be so glad you did.  By the time I got all caught up from being jet-lagged, it was time to go home.  Let’s face it though, just being there was like a dream come true so all of my adrenaline kicked in and that alone kept me up and excited.
This whole trip was planned around the anniversary of my moms passing.  I got to Bali on May 6th and I was dreading May 7th just like I did the others, but I made a promise to myself to be strong and push through.  After I got settled in, my assistant asked me if I wanted to do Mt. Batur that next morning.  I had no idea what he was talking about.  I didn’t realize it was a hike.  He told me that I would have to wake up at 3 am and meet him down in the lobby (May 7th).  At first, I hesitated…I hadn’t got a good nights sleep in a few days much less any at all.  The idea of getting sleep sounded so good to me but that little voice inside of my head was telling me that I didn’t go to Bali to go to sleep, I went to Bali to heal…so without much more thought, I told him yes and then within hours, I was back in the lobby ready to go.
When I got to the hike, they were not kidding…it was a haul to get there and a haul to make it all the way up.  I had to wear layers and layers of clothes because it was freezing and I had to wear a light on my head so that I could see what was in front of me.  It was pitch black in some areas and if you don’t know where you are going, you could end up somewhere you really don’t want to be.  I don’t recommend doing the hike unless you go with someone who knows what they are doing or you will miss the sunrise and burnout before you get to the top.  I was exhausted but I was on a personal mission.  I didn’t stop one single time.  I was bound and determined to get there in time to see the sunrise and once I did….GOD was it worth it.
It is one of the coolest moments of my life and by far most rewarding.  My guide told me that the fog sometimes prevents people from seeing the sunrise and he thought for sure that the fog was going to prevent us from seeing it too, but it came out just in time and when it did, I just started bawling my eyes out.  It was an amazing moment.  18 miles there and back felt impossible but in the end…it was so worth it.
If you follow me on instagram, then you’ve probably already seen the interaction I had with the monkeys.  It was such an amazing day!! It is hard to put it all into words.
After the hike, I went back to my room and passed out for a solid 10 hours.  I got up the next day ready to take on another beautiful day in Bali.
I was greeted each morning for breakfast with a shot of turmeric and homemade almond milk latte’s.  It was a dream.
For breakfast, I got fresh fruit or a juice and muesli, apple & pear salad with flax-seed powder.  They also had a cinnamon and coconut porridge that was to die for.  I bought the cook book just so I could learn how to make it back home.
The food in Bali is seriously so so good.
The entire week was packed with activities that kept me busy and super active the entire time.  I am not going to lie…it was packed so full there were days I just wanted to relax and do nothing but I felt bad for it. I didn’t want to waste any time.
I took Balinese culture classes, yoga classes such as power yoga, flow yoga, yin yoga, hatha yoga, and restorative yoga.  I took juice classes and had the majority of my lessons in Ayurvedic medicine. ( let me know if you want me to do a post on it ) I did rock climbing, hydrotherapy, circuit training, Pilates, rice field walks, estate walks, and rice field biking…this is where I came across an entire field of peppers.  My eyes lit up so big!!
It was so much fun!
This is when my obsession for peppers really kicked in.  I knew I liked spicy food, but not like I do now.  Ever since Bali, I have become a lot more experimental with peppers and now I add them to almost every meal I have.  There’s something about the Bali spice that just taste so dang good.  They made me a lover of spice even more than I already was.   They have so much passion for their crops and it was amazing to witness. I also got to fly some kites with these kids and all they waned to do was say hello and play.  It was a moment ill never forget.  I have this picture framed in my house.
The next few days were spent in class or in Ayurvedic treatments.
A couple of days before I had to leave, a lady I met at the plantation asked me if I wanted to go to a local yoga studio with her. She told me they were extremely well-known and had some of the best yoga classes in the world.
I didn’t hesitate.  I had no idea it was going to be THE YOGA BARN. (insert heart eyes here)
“The path of the unknown leads to the gates of wisdom.”
I had a breakthrough that day.  Those words moved me in a way that is hard to even explain.  You know you had a good experience when you are wiping tears from your face at the end and that is exactly what I was doing.
Really and truly the entire Balinese experience was life changing.  I highly recommend it to anyone and I highly recommend doing one of the retreats at this hotel. ( Como Shambhala Estate )
I left Bali and went back to the states feeling revived again.
I focused so much energy on the struggle and on the disease that I forgot how to be present.  Bali taught me how to be present again…Bali taught me how to take risks and dig deep. Bali taught me how to meditate.  Bali taught me how to believe in myself and love again but most importantly, Bali taught me that you can “have” nothing and still have absolutely everything.  Those kids that I met that day were the happiest kids I have ever seen and they didn’t even have shoes on.  Some of the people I met in the village were the sweetest people in the world and they didn’t have any teeth.  I was blessed and guided so gently and sweetly that day on the mountain and my tour guide had 3 kids, a brother with 4 kids, and they were both under 21 years old living in one of the poorest slums in Bali.  Did I need this extravagant trip to heal?  No.  I learned that I didn’t “need” any of it.  However, by stepping outside of my comfort zone and taking a risk…I found meaning in so much.  I found my purpose again.  I found my strength.  I found it all.  I found peace and comfort in the unknown.
I may have found a little bit of wisdom too.
  Much love,
Chelsea
