My husband and mine's anniversary was a couple weeks ago, but I wanted to show off the anniversary present he got me! Also, we went to the aquarium for our date, so here are some shark pictures!

I posted a little update as to what's going on with my Red with Envy fic, but I'll also share it over here:

Okay first off, I want to apologize for the sudden radio silence (ha) on this fic. I've been hyperfocusing on other things and experiencing an extreme case of writer's block. 

I decided to try to reread the existing chapters to get back into the groove of this fic, but in doing so, I kept getting distracted by little things that I'm no longer happy with. When I started this fic, it was a modification of a crack concept that I had come up with, and as a result, I wasn't taking the first few chapters that seriously. I also had no idea where the greater plot would end up going. But this fic is no longer crack-adjacent, and I now have a much better idea of where it's going. And the thing is, it's difficult for me to keep making forward progress now that I've realized I'm not quite happy with the existing work. 

The changes I want to make aren't drastic - just a few tweaks for the sake of consistency - and there won't be any changes to the greater story itself. Honestly, most of it will probably go unnoticed. So, is making changes necessary? Probably not. But it's bugging me, and I don't think I can push myself to continue unless I do it. 

So, what does this mean? I will not be rewriting the whole fic - I'll put that out there right away. But I am going to go back and edit all of the previous chapters. Like I said, there won't be any changes to the story itself, and most of the changes probably no one but me will care about or notice, so feel no need to go back and reread my edits unless you just want to. But in case any of you do want to, I will but an * around each chapter title and remove them once the edits are complete, so you'll be able to tell what's been edited and what hasn't. I make no promises as to how long this will take me, as I do have other things I'm working on, too. 

Once I've gone back through all the chapters and am happy with everything, I'll hopefully be able to finally get the next chapter written. Then I'll remove this update chapter and hopefully go back to my normal posting schedule.

Something interesting that I don't often see people talk about is how loved Vox is.

We acknowledge his need for attention, adulation and validation. We acknowledge that he's insecure and he needs the public to respect and revere him, but we never talk about how successful he is at it. Because every single character we've seen him interact with thus far has... loved him.

Velvette does, it's not obvious but we as the audience know. She calls him darling, sends him kisses, and is overall much more cordial with him than she is with other people. Perhaps, it's because Vox actively tries to get on her good side and hides his real feelings well. Whichever it is, Velvette likes him.

Valentino does too. That smile and giddiness in the finale? Say what you want but that moth is whipped (and he hates it).

The population of hell does. They all see him as a source of safety and protection. They immediately flock to the TVs and displays when Vox starts his talk show. And he wouldn't be as successful if he didn't have their support.

And I think Alastor likes him too. Or at least, he DID. Alastor who hates men in general and hates taking pictures, and yet he's taken a picture with Vox and allows him to film him with his drones. He kills powerful overlords for fun, and yet not only has Vox come out alive after their last battle, but Alastor still does nothing to fight him. He only disses him out because Vox started ridiculing him.

I don't know how Vox's relationships will develop as the show progresses, but I think it's interesting how everyone Vox comes into contact ends up loving him. No wonder the fandom does too.

A little late posting this, but I went to a small, local con last weekend and ended up coming back with more merch than I'd anticipated, so thought I'd share!

Got another Lucifer pillow (the couch in my office is really filling up) and some original Vox art! It isn't a print - it's something the artist drew while at the convention and then decided to sell, so it's one of a kind!

Of course got some various stickers (the husk and Helluva Boss ones were technically freebies, but I was happy to grab them), pins, and keychains. Also a magnetic cat, duck earrings, and a fun dish towel.

I got a mystery bag from a booth with fun little fidgets, and this is what I got.

These are a couple things I got from people at the con. Someone was giving away little figurines, and the one they happened to grab for me was a blue duck, so he has been added to my tiny duck collection! The dolphin was in my friend's mystery bag, and when she saw my excited squeal when she pulled it out (dolphins are my second favorite animal after cats), she said it would bring me more joy than it would her, so I should have it.

Lastly, they had a little carnival after party, and this is what I won playing the games. (Still freaking out over the sword!)

All in all, it was a great con! My friends had a booth there for their podcast, so I got to hang out and help them man it while some of them went to panels, and it was a lot of fun! (Also, check out their pathfinder podcast and their variety channel! Right now they have a horror rpg on their second channel that my husband is in the second season of, and they're going to be coming out with some scripted content.)
