Halò! Tha mi ag ionnsachadh Gàidhlig cuideachd! If you could wait maybe a week or two i’d love to chat in Gàidhlig, but unfortunately i’ve just had all four wisdom teeth removed and talking hurts quite a bit so that’s out of the question for now. dm in like a week or so tho!

Hàlo! I was just gonna reach out into the void of tumblr to see if any other Gàidhlig speakers/learners would be keen to practise with me. I’ve been learning for about 5 months now and having other humans to speak to would be so helpful.

scariest part of recovery so far: when my mouth started bleeding a lot.

most painful part of recovery so far: biting down on gauze for about 20 mins to stop the aforementioned bleeding.

most concerning part of recovery so far: sometimes i move my jaw wrong and it feels like either the stitches are gonna come out, the wound’s gonna open back up, or, worst case scenario: the blood clot’s gonna come out.

weirdest part of recovery so far: feeling the stitches inside my mouth. guys. they feel like hairs. they feel like the biggest fucking hairs i’ve ever felt AND THEY’RE IN MY MOUTH

i recently (earlier today) made a reblog blog so that my main blog (this one) wouldn’t just get clogged with reblogs all the time. i will make an exception for ai. i hate ai. it’s demon tech. do not try to convince me otherwise, it will not work. some things are bad simply because they are (causing pain and suffering, murder, etc.). i believe ai is one of those things. the only time i will accept ai is when people use it to destroy the broader technology, which is the same reason i do not oppose the murder of the healthcare ceo as vehemently as i oppose other form a of murder (though i do still think he should have done time instead of getting to escape judgment), because the social murder that he was directly and indirectly responsible for was orders of magnitude worse than him specifically getting killed.

fuck ai and all the evils that it causes and perpetuates.

• valise. also means “suitcase”. i think i have to give this one to english because the distinction is there (“the suitcase is in the trunk” is way clearer than “la valise est dans la valise”)

• there are two answers for this one. the first one is just “chips” with a french accent. the second one is “croustille”, which i believe would translate to the literal definition of “crusty” (though without the connotations of being gross and old)

• several different ways to say parking lot, most of them valid, none of which i am going to go over in this reblog because it’s my blog and i can do whatever i want on it

• ascenseur. same problem as english and spanish: IT ALSO FUCKING GOES DOWN

having had my surgery is really weird cuz i can’t feel the lack of wisdom teeth but logically i know they aren’t there anymore and i have a vague recollection of the feeling of them getting pulled out. but then also i have swelling and stitches, and the swelling makes it near impossible to properly close my jaw which isn’t exactly comfortable

so i haven’t been speaking much english since the surgery because i’ve just been at home, but because of the way i have to talk around my extraction sites, when i speak french i sound like an old menoncle from my mom’s village back in new brunswick. it isn’t my voice, i straight up just have a different goddamn accent and i think that’s really funny
