The Orange Peel Test

This is the result of scrolling through tiktok and coming across a few "orange peel test" videos. Which then made me begin to wonder how some of the characters would react in these situations. Would they pass the test or fail miserably?

Donald-

If you're with Donald it's because he chose to have you in his life. He has no room or time for anything that's not to be taken seriously, and he obviously does his homework on any venture that he invests himself into. Which, in this case, would result in already knowing the kind of person that you are and what you like and don't like. So much so, that you wouldn't have to request such small favors as peeling an orange from him. Most days, he would have a tray set on the tabletop with an already peeled orange, split nicely into slices, ready for you when you get home. It will be the same concept with him filling up items you are low on, such as your favorite granola or shampoo, to the point that you can't even remember the last time you actually bought more yourself. Now he probably won't ever leave you little notes in the way that his mom did to him as a child, because he would hold that memory too close to his soul to share or give out with anyone else, including you, but he would 100% leave encouraging and love filled notes to his own children if you both ever decide to have any.

Jimmy-

Jimmy would give an immediate little sneer if you asked him to peel your orange. Which would be quickly followed up with him just snatching it out of your hand, and complaining a bit about having to do it, while still actually doing it for you. He would also eat half of it himself as he splits the orange apart slice by slice. His reasoning of course would be that he did the "hard" work, so why shouldn't he have some of the reward? The other half of the orange he would stuff into your mouth mindlessly and not too gently, in a very one slice for him- one slice for you, two slices for him- one for you, etc. Once the orange is all done, he will get up to grab another one, and repeat the process all over again. This will continue until you finally tell him that you're full and don't need any more orange slices.

Wolf-

You can't force Wolf to do anything that he doesn't want to do.(Unless you're Donald haha). So really it's a 50/50 chance for it to go your way if you were to ask him. But luckily for you, the one thing about Wolf that is very much in your favor, is that when he's in one of his more giving moods he doesn't hold himself back from treating those close to him. Such as when he takes out his crew for a whole "order whatever you want" type of feast. So the chances of him peeling your orange is pretty high, even with his volatile nature. Just don't ask him in a cutesy voice or by giving him some sad puppy dog eyes. That shit will end up annoying the hell out of him, and you'll end up watching him as he walks away from you, with nothing to keep you company but that sad unpeeled orange you're still holding in your hand.

Jake-

Now you know damn well that Jake would 100% peel that orange for you. Heck, he would even do it with a big smile on his face. He is one of the most openly family and friend oriented person within the Yeongdeungpo union. So he would not only peel an orange for you, but he would also be the kind of guy who would wake up early in the mornings to warm up the car for you. Just to make sure that the windows aren't frosted over and to have the inside of the car nice and toasty. Making it easier for you to just take off in the mornings to wherever you need to go. AND he would do this unprompted and solely because he wants to and because he's able to.

Forrest-

Most people know Forrest as someone who's a complete asshole. Always trying to prove that he deserves the spot he inherited from Myles as Hyeongshin's school head. And truthfully he has the fist to back it up against most adversaries, so most people just try to stay out of his way. But you're one of the lucky few who has gotten to see a different side of him. Where he has been incredibly thoughtful to those close to him, and how he's even taken into consideration his subordinate's discomfort when making his moves within the Unions dealings. So it should come as no surprise to you that Forrest would have no issues with peeling you an orange. Chances are you wouldn't even need to verbally ask the question. All you would have to do is hold out an orange to him with a pleading look on your face. That alone will have him taking the orange from your outstretched hand, followed by him patiently peeling the rind away from it. Then handing it wordlessly back to you once it's peeled, and leaving to throw away all the discarded peels before you even have the chance to say thank you.

Colton-

Now you all know Colton would be a complete and total simp for whoever he's in a relationship with. And he would be SO ready to peel any oranges for you. And not just oranges either. He'll peel you some bananas or some apples. This guy will even go as far as peeling/cracking your pistachios for you! And in my opinion that's even better than peeling an orange.

I just finished reading A Head Full of Ghost by Paul Tremblay. And... what in the heck was that ending?!?

I wasn't prepared for it at all, and at no point in the story did I suspect that things were going to happen in the way that they happened. During the last retelling, or more like final confession, I kept thinking, "Nah, that's not really gonna happen. Right?"

Then to, "Oh God, please, I hope that doesn't happen."

And finally to, "Wait. WHAT!?!!"

Definitely a good story, even if it wasn't for the reasons that I originally thought that I would like it for. If that makes any sense.

It's gonna be a new year, and with that, I have to come to terms with whom I am and the fact that I have no self-control. 🙃

With all the stuff your kindle events that have taken place in 2023, my kindle library has reached over 1k books! Plus adding all the books available to me through my library cards on Libby, I don't think I'll ever run out of books to read. Like ever!

I seriously feel like Scrooge McDuck swimming through his coins, except in my case it's ebooks.

And from a self aware book hoarder, I would like to add some unsolicited advice for any future or current authors: The cover on your books can REALLY make or break the interest someone has in the story. And no, I don't care that I'm not getting a physical copy of the book, to hold, or to place on a shelf like a treasured trophy. Cuz how I see it, if that's the effort that's put into the cover, then how much effort has really been put into the actual story?

Am I judging a book by it's cover by doing that?

Yes.

But let's be honest, sometimes the shoe just fits, and no amount of explaining could ever rationalize those horrendous covers with Bratz doll looking characters on the front. Like what even is that? And how did anyone think that looked good enough to market in any way?

Please, just take the time to create a well designed cover or commission an artist to create one for you.

On that same note, wonderfully created covers can snatch up readers (like me 🤓) even if we're iffy on the subject matter inside.

I was so excited to read Weak Hero's "epilogue" today that I actually dreamt about it last night. 😅

But in typical dream fashion things weren't quite the same as in real life, and in this case instead of reading the last chapter, I was plopped down in front of a television watching the last episode of the anime. In the show, it was revealed that Donald had faked his death and that he also had a younger sister. They both had auburn hair, and it played a kind of flashback where it showed that Donald was bleaching his hair the whole time and he would also wear contacts to hide his real eye color, which was a deep chocolate brown. (Please remember this was a dream, and I am very well aware that this makes absolutely zero sense in real life lol). And just when it was about to show the reasoning for Donald's actions and what was going on with his sister, I had to stop watching because- again with typical dream nonsense- I was watching the show while inside a haunted house, and someone I was with had pissed off some of the ghost. And I had to abruptly step away from the television to try to calm the ghosties down and to stop them from totally fucking up my dumb friend. AND of course when I finally got back to the show the end credits were rolling, and when I tried to rewind the episode, or find out how I can rewatch it, I couldn't read shit-diddly of what was on the screen 😮‍💨. So I woke up super frustrated but also hopeful that the "epilogue" was going to answer all my questions.

Anyone who's read the "epilogue" by now knows that it, in fact, did NOT answer any of my questions. I personally wouldn't have even called it an epilogue, but more of an author's note. Since that was really what it was. 😒

I am thankful to the creators for their time, energy, and health that went into making this amazing story. I am still incredibly disappointed and dissatisfied with the ending, but I would still take that shit ending if it meant that I got to experience this story in the first place. Because, as stated in a previous post, I do love this story a whole lot more than I hate it.

Plus, my professional levels of delulu can let me pretend that ending never happened. Maybe I can even pretend my dream ending was the official ending, and I can just mentally fill in the blank spots that "dream me" didn't get to watch.

Then there's also always the option of reading fanfics! 😆

Now that I got that out of the way, ya'll know I can't leave without mentioning my fav and sharing the extras tidbits that were given to us.

I'm dying that Jimmy was ALWAYS meant to be the annoying, loud one! 😂

This👆 is 100% what I imagine texting Jimmy would be like. Family, friend or foe, there's no asking, just ordering or demanding 💀

Weak Hero thoughts, rants, and spoilers for chapters 263 to current.

Sorry if this gets lengthy, but I got some feelings to express.

So, I gave myself a few days to process my thoughts and emotions on the conclusion of Weak Hero. To try and make sense of the direction the author decided to take his story on. And honestly, I'm still left feeling let down and disappointed.

In my opinion, one of the greatest slights an author can do to their fanbase and to their work, especially if it's a lengthy story, is to end the story abruptly. To me that is the equivalent to a slap in the face. A big slap to all the fans who have invested their time, energy, and possibly even money to the story the author has been creating. Years of tuning in and refreshing pages, only for the ending to feel so damn rushed.

I was really holding out for a small sliver of hope, I wanted to "trust the process." Maybe there would be an introduction to an amazing plot twist, or a great revelation to understand and explain why the storyline turned into what it did. But at this point, with only the epilogue left, none of that is gonna probably happen, and I'm left wondering why?

I've even wondered if the kdrama had any influence on how Weak Hero ended. Would it have been different if the kdrama never existed? Did Seopass just get tired of his story and the characters, maybe he wanted to move on to something else already? Cuz any which way that I try to look at it, I just can't comprehend why he chose that ending. Especially for Donald. One of the most charismatic characters in the series. The final boss, who possessed both brains and unmatched brute strength. A master strategist who managed to unite a whole district. A literal unbeatable character.... who he gets done in by a wayward truck!?! Right after the biggest fight in the series!?! Like, are you for fucking real? That's how his demise happens?!!?

I'm not even a Donald fan! He was never my fave (that honor always went to Jimmy ❤️), but even I expected more for him. Donald didn't even go down swinging, kicking, barely hanging on by the skin of his teeth. His death happening in the same way he lived his life, like some sort of poetic justice. No. We got none of that. Instead, we get a self defeated Donald, who was reaching out to the universe for someone to stop him, and who purposefully? didn't avoid the truck???

I'm sorry but no, DONALD DESERVED BETTER!!! HE, AS A CHARACTER, DESERVED BETTER!!!!

AND THEN, we get thrown some pity crumbs at the end with Stephen. Which to me was just another rushed ending. We get some half assed reunion. No backstory on what Stephen had to go through. No idea what his thoughts were while recovering from his near fatal drop. Did he ever think of Gray? Did he ever try looking for him?

Was I the only one that expected more from Stephen and Gray's reunion??? I can't be the only one completely disappointed, or am I?

I am however grateful we got to see Stephen again, I really am, and that we got a conclusion for him. Since it didn't happen with some of the other plotlines.

For instance, what happened to the Mapo guys, and Changhui saying they were going to wait for an opportunity to strike back? Am I the only one that remembers this?

And where the capital F was Wolf's backstory? He's a fan favorites and we get nothing? No idea on why he's a such a psycho or the reasoning behind his 3 second rule? Or even why he has it out for Grape so much?

And let's not forget about this guy! He never even got a name!

There's more, but I'm not gonna go into all of that right now since I don't want to just trash this series. I fell in love with it for a reason, and now I want to talk about the parts that I enjoyed, and that made me remember why I  loved this series so much in the first place.

Like...

The fact that Jimmy wanted Donald's recognition. Even after talking crap about him every chance he got~ lol. He still valued him as a capable leader and cared about how Donald perceived him.

And how Jimmy's signature wrist swish was influenced by Donald!!! I would have never in a million years thought that Donald was the reason and inspiration for it.

And I absolutely loved how Jimmy and Wolf were bickering at the end. It completely reminded me of siblings arguing with each other at any and every opportunity! I know there's gotta be some underlying respect and friendship for each other there, waaay deep inside, somewhere in a dark crevice of their little crazy hearts. 😆

And cuz I want to gloat too, I'm gonna add Jimmy whooping Gerard's butt. Take that shuttle patch!

I was also pretty surprised by how distraught Phillip became after Donald's death. Especially considering that the last time Phillip had any real interaction with him, Donald pretty much blew him off. Phillip not being important enough for even a backwards glance. For Phillip to still remember what it was like standing next to someone like Donald, and to have all those emotions come out of him just broke my heart.

And I am not about to forget my lovely Colton! Our very first villain. Pervy villain at that! And how much growth he's had, even as a secondary character. I went from feeling disgusted at him to wanting to give him all the hugs and support in the world.

I love you Colton you big doof! 🫶

And with that last thought I end this. Because as much as I hate the ending, I can go on and on about the things that I did like.

What exactly are the oppressed supposed to do to protect themselves and their families and their land that's acceptable for you?

Are they supposed to sit down and write love letters?

How many more years of western media acting as though "those Arab terrorists" and one of the most advanced militaries in the world protected behind an iron dome funded by western nations are on the same level and that it's an equal conflict, are we supposed to witness?

How many international war crimes do Israel have to commit without facing a hint of consequences before it becomes clear that the majority of western nations do support Israel and do not want Palestine to be freed because it would be inconvenient for them?

How did you think we were gonna fight for Palestine?

by trending hashtags? by simply preaching "decolonisation" without physically doing anything? By voting? (lmao) be serious.

This is a war that's been going on for decades. Not some playground shit. Palestinians have been oppressed for decades. Hundreds of innocent Palestinians are murdered every year in cold blood. Hundreds are displaced. The people of Gaza have been trapped in one of the biggest open air tightly controlled prisons for a very long time.

Realistically speaking, this horror and this war is not gonna end by Palestinians sitting down, twiddling their thumbs and hoping the state that's shown no mercy and stopped at nothing to try and erase them will show them kindness and mercy all of a sudden.

This is the same state full of civilians that go around chanting "death to Arabs" on their own holiday. The same state who's soldiers and civilians make it a tradition to attack people simply praying every ramadan.

You think those people will stop trying to gain more land and wipe out Palestinians with treaties, kind words and gifts?

When will it be acceptable for Palestinians to defend themselves and for those in Gaza to try and break free from their prison?

Hey, it's me, crawling back after being gone for a while 🥸. Unfortunately I've had to deal with a series of unfortunate events in my life. One of which was losing my notes (AGAIN) 😭. Soo in the attempt to try and get back into the swing of things, I'm gonna post some of my story wip ideas in hopes that it will motivate me enough to actually start writing again.

Note: I'm not including my Jimmy, Forrest, or Philip fics as those have already been started. This is just for wips of fics I only have minimal notes on right now.

Wolf fic

Found friends, unlikely friendship, wrong number, catching feelings for a stranger, dealing with grief

Summary: You're left with an empty hole in your soul after the loss of a great friend. A void that you attempt to fill as you reach out to find some kind of closure. Basically, you wrong dial/text Wolf. He humors you at first with responding, since he's bored and finds your messages entertaining enough to pass the time. But somewhere along the line feelings start to develop, even though he's never even seen your face. Most of this story takes place over messages and almost encounters.

Wolf fated mates fic

Wolf/OC or reader

Enemies-lovers, rivals-lovers, semi forced proximity (both are union members having to deal with union shi), fated mates au, no shifting, mate reveal at age 18, you know before he does, trying to be the bigger person is HARD

Summary of sorts: A member of the union under Yeo-Il. Think Donald's a huge ass but the pay can't be beat, even when having to deal with other union members like Wolf. Especially Wolf. Who you can't seem to get along with from the very first encounter. You both are basically water and oil having to coexist in the same space. But then you turn 18 a couple months before he does, and realize that destiny has played you for a fool, by making Wolf your fated mate. So now you're left trying to figure out what to do next.

Notes: was reading waay to many werewolf stories during the creation of this story idea 🙃

Donald fic

Oppites attract, aged up characters, both already in the workforce, forced proximity due to work, one night stand not staying a one night stand, very low spice (for now anyway), mostly just sexual tension, expanding on one of my oneshots

Summary-ish: A crazy night out with friends leads to an unexpected one night stand with a dangerous but handsome looking stranger. You check it off as a very delightful YOLO experience, never expecting to meet "what's his name" again. Until you find yourself sitting in a conference room, while your boss introduces the new business partner your company is doing a collaboration with. And if that wasn't awkward enough, you get voted to be the employee to spearhead the details of this new business merger.

Notes: this came about when I mentioned to someone about how cute it would be if Donald developed feelings for someone like the character in my karaoke crackfic. A very opposites attract that just happens to work despite their differences. Only for them to shot that idea down and state he would be better off with someone like one of their own OC's, who's more like him 😐🤨😮‍💨

Welp, challenge accepted I guess.

Jake 7 minutes in heaven fic

Quiet and reserved character meets popular and outgoing character, opposites attract, 7 minutes of heaven game, forced proximity due to game, aged up characters, college au, college frat party, fish out of water

Summary: You get dragged to some frat party by your more outgoing and social bestie, only to be left alone while they make out with some rando. While trying to blend in and look like you belong you end up getting paired up for a round of 7 minutes in heaven, and before you can even begin to protest, you end up locked in a closet with Jake Ji.

Notes: Haven't decided how spicy I want to make this one. Should I make it more suggestive in nature?  Or should I crank the spice level all the way up 🌶🔥😈

Ugh I've told myself not to post anything until I finish one of my writings (Late-Halloween zombie piece currently in the works y'all! 🧟‍♀️). But I just HAD to talk about this weeks raws!

So first and foremost....

I fucking LOVE this guy!!!

I love his cocky ass attitude and his shit talking mouth!!! I'm sure someone Gerard will probably make him eat his words 🙄, and that he hasn't had a good win in like forever, but I don't give a damn! He's still my fav and I'm gonna root for him till the last chapter of this story!

Like come on! How can you not love him!?!!

And second.

Yo, what's up with THIS?!?

See this is why Donald can't have nice things! He literally treats everyone like crap! Even Kingsley's not immune to his tantrums.

Though I'm guessing it's because Wolf got his paws on those files?? And then he promptly set those shits on fire lol. At least that makes more sense to me due to Donald's reaction to Wolf's speech and actions. But Donald would probably get even more upset once he finds out why Ben's not there. So Kingsley better prepare his other cheek for another slap!

Considering that this new chapter is kinda slow there IS still soo much I want to talk about!

Now first things first... one of my bingo squares is about to get checked off! 😀

Then I can't continue without mentioning the complete burn that Teddy said about Jonathan Moon. 🤣

I'm curious to see if the official translation will keep that remark or if they will change it to something else. Either way poor Jonathan, I'm sure he has a nice... er... personality?

And speaking of looks and personalities. I wish they would have included more of this guy- (Seongjin Cheon) in the main story. So hopefully we see more of him in future chapters.

Also, I'm loving the fact that everyone about sh*t themselves when they realized Ben Park was there. While Phillip was completely chill. And then the shocked expressions on everyone's face in the room (excluding Gray) when Wolf shows up, only for Phillip to be like yo what's up? You're late. 🤣

Y'all the scene of Seongmok crawling towards Dongha totally pulled at my heartstrings 😓. Now don't get me wrong, Dongha totally deserves to get dragged up and down that street for what he did to Eugene, and really just in general for being such a menace. But still... poor Mok, my heart just kinda hurt for him a little.

And also,

HE CAN TALK?!!?

This whole time I assumed he was mute. But he can actually speak!! And he only did so he could plea for Dongha's safety 😢. Please my heart just can't with this.

But it does makes me wonder if the wave in his voice is due to vocal cord damage, and that's why he choses not to talk, or is it because he just got stomped by Wolf? This all actually makes me want some more MokHa duo content now or at least Seongmok content. 🤡
