I personally love the headcanon that Swap and Error are lowkey friends but couldn’t really hang out too often bc of their jobs.

I feel like Error would be lowkey excited to see Swap be treated better and his healing journey. I like to think that he and Swap are passive besties. Like, neither of them has verbally discussed or admitted to being fond of the other, even to themselves. They won’t talk directly for months on end but trust in each other’s judgment and abilities to not worry too much. Even though they both know the other could be doing better, they don’t pry. Their first awkward introduction was awful(Swap being kidnapped) but meetings after are smooth and casual. They by no means have the same problems, even though most of their headaches are caused by the same people, but conversations(and rants if they’re closer) flow fine when they’re left alone long enough. No judgments or solutions, just listening.

Like Error is this asocial, socially awkward, God of destruction that just wants to do his job and be left alone, kidnaps this funky little mortal out of spite with no real plan, they hang out for a bit and have decent communication. Swap isn’t calling him wrong or crazy or evil during little rants that slip out. Being patient when Error can’t communicate something properly or understand his emotions. Isn’t offering him ‘Solutions’ or preaching about being good and changing his ways. Asks questions about his motives and thought process and actually takes his answers into consideration. Calls him out on his dramatics but doesn’t invalidate his feelings and sometimes joins in for shits and giggles. eventually they’re watching undernovela together and talking shit about Ink and Dream, happy to find someone that’ll let them rant about the two heros without being chastised for talking ill about the god and guardian. Just being decent company and Errors like, “I like that one, he’s cool, he gets it.”

I imagine the beginnings of most of their offhand friendly conversations are like:

“Hello.”

“sUp.”

“It’s Been A While, How’s Your Mental Health And Anger Management?”

“Not Great But, Y'know.”

So he’s the kind of friend that knew something in Swap’s life could change for the better but he also understands that he was incapable of being the one to make that change, especially when Swap isn’t the one to reach out for help first, so he’s happy to hear Swap started working for Night. Happily watching improvements from afar.
