You open up about your past.

Everything was finally going your way. For the first time in your life you were in control and you were free and safe and your past was a million miles away from you. Or so you thought. The proposal was everything you could have dreamed of. But what you didn't expect was that the desire to have a wedding be non-existent. So you sat there, in your living room not wanting to even think about a guest list.

"Are you okay?" He asks in a small tentative whisper. "Yeah, I'm fine." You sigh out not even trying to put in any effort to convince him that you truly were. "I didn't think that planning a wedding would be so stressful." He gives a strange look as he sits down next to you. "What are you not telling me." Refusing to look him in the eye, you just shake your head. "It's nothing." I'm not going to talk about it. There's no need to. He'll respect the fact that I don't want my blood relatives at the ceremony. They are no family of mine anyways. "Be honest with me. Please?" I can't not tell him. He has a right to know. But then he'll know.... No don't think like that. "Babe?" You didn't realize that he was still talking to you until he pulled into his chest and the vibration of his word disrupted the mental battle you had been sucked into. "It's okay, you're safe here."

After a long bout of silence. You spoke up. "I don't have a family to invite to the wedding. If I never see them again it will be too soon." You say hoping that will put an end to his questioning. And as if reading your mind "I would love for that to be the end of it. But this is not the first time I've seen you like this. I'm trying to respect your wishes, but the closer I try to get to you, the more I feel you push away." You know he wants to help but you don't want him to look at you like that. But we are getting married and going to have kids, so he needs to know the importance as to why your children are to never be around those people.

"I just need you to listen. Okay?" You waited for him to say something, but he just hummed a response instead. "I was abused for years by my mom. And when she wasn't abusing me my oldest brother was raping me. It got so bad that my brother had my cousin do it was well and in my culture it's always the girls fault. So I don't speak to my mom's side of the family and she cut us off from my dad's side before my youngest brother was born. She started dating a man that I told her was trying to do inappropriate things things to me, and I got raped by him. The only good thing that came from that was that my brother finally stopped because I was now disgusting to him. It took me a long time to realize that they are not my family, and it's okay to hate them. For years I hated myself for the things they did to me. And the only reason I'm telling you this is because we're going to have kids one day. And they will try to weasel their way back into my life and I don't want my kids exposed to horrible people like that." And for the next few minutes the only thing you could hear was his breathing and heart beat.

His grip on you tightened and he muttered "I've done worst to people for less." Then silence again. "People like that don't deserve to die. They should be tied up to a horse by the balls and dragged across a field full of broken glass and used needles." Then he looks down at you with an eerily warm smile "I know what your wedding gift will be." Concern plasters your features as you question him "what will be my wedding gift?"

First the pademie, I lost my job, then I got pregnant by my ex, then I had a miscarriage, I met someone, I fell in love, then things got really bad with my roommate, my fiance got locked up, I moved back in with my mother and her boyfriend #toxic, I got engaged, we ended up homeless again, and I moved across the country.
