Posted @withregram • @hospicedoctorswidow Sometimes, as a #CEO I got help from some indirect or unlikely sources – perhaps a vendor or community leader whose organization or business had a stake or general interest in my organization doing well. Or sometimes just letting a friend know of a challenging situation, yielded help. This is one place where people's overwhelming desire to #FixIt can be parlayed into #Delegation and #HelpingHands. Don’t forget your #CareRecipient ’s #Friends. When my mother was dying of cancer, I was her #Caregiver. She had a number of close friends who just came forward one after another. Some helped in communicating with other friends that I did not know how to get in touch with. Sometimes her friends sat with my mother when I needed a break. Just think about friends, yours and your Care Recipient’s, their strengths and interests and how that might fit a situational need. Posted @withregram • @hospicedoctorswidow A brother or sister who does not help with the #Caregiving of a parent, when and how you need them to, is no less a son or daughter of the #CareRecipient. It’s a frustration akin to a board member to doesn’t show to the meetings or plays on his/her mobile device throughout a long, involved issue discussion and then wants everything to stop just before the important vote because they need more information. One sad difference is family doesn’t rotate off like board members do. These are challenging aspects of the #CaregiverAsCEO position when you must facilitate, inspire, finesse, perhaps even manipulate (a little) to get the participation you need or at least minimize the disruption or paralysis resulting from the lack of participation. Here again, sharing (repeatedly if necessary) the #Mission and #Vision and perhaps the #Mantra should help a lot. CEOs share the Mission and Vision over and over. It is part of leadership. Sharing Mission and Vision helps people feel a part of something. Future posts on the powers of effective #Communication and #Feedback will also help with facilitating helpful participation from others. If you have not yet joined i-Ally, an app and community that provides connection and support for #MillennialCaregivers, please do that right away at i-allydotcom or by downloading the mobile app. @iallyinc Here are a few others that come to mind: Illness-Specific Organizations – If your Care Recipient has a specific diagnosis such as Alzheimer’s, ALS, a particular type of Cancer, Parkinson’s please check out the illness specific organizations that apply and access their resources. CircleOf – a mobile app that gives #FamilyCaregivers the power to organize, collaborate, and easily access extra help. @circleof_app Caregivingdotcom – a website and community for Family Caregivers, which has a Caregiver Compensation Calculator to provide an understanding of what type of compensation would be applicable to the level of care provided if the position were a paid one. @caregivingsupport Insurance Payor Apps – if your #CareRecipient has health insurance through a company or Medicare replacement plan, please check out what apps that company makes available to their members. There are typically resources here that are included in their membership/premium. CaringBridge to set up your individual health journal website for communicating and updating friends and family during any type of health journey. @caringbridgeofficial Wellthy a care coordination service that helps families organize and support their caregiving. You can enter questions or lists of what you need help with and their professionals will respond.
