Where are you getting the third number for the enneagram? (via 514). I know I'm a 2w1, but I also deeply relate to 4. Are these what subtypes are?

So this is the Tritype theory, a different theory of the Enneagram created by Katherine Fauvre. I really like this one and it provides a fresh new approach to how one’s personality is influenced by other types in the Enneagram. You must see which of the types do you most idenrify from each triad, meaning that it is one from the head (5, 6, 7), one from the gut (8, 9, 1) and one from the heart (2, 3, 4). The first one is your core type and the last two are your “fixes” in other triads, ordered from how much they affect you.

You also use the crescent order to refer to the “archetype”, meaning that 145 accounts not only for the person with 1 as core and 4 and 5 as fixes, but also for “The Researcher” archetype, which encompasses 145, 154, 415, 451, 514 and 541.

Somewhere, in a kingdom not very far from here, he walked.

He didn’t walk for too long, for as he walked, he felt intruded by everything unknown that passed. Words, sounds, expectations and asks were always too much. He stopped waking and settled. Feeling invaded, he decided to clearly define his own territory and erected, there, his castle. It was not the biggest, nor the most beautiful castle, but it was safe. The most important part of the castle was the single tower in the middle, high as it could be, and at the top of it, there was a single, small window. On the room at the top of the tower of the castle, the Five was born.

He decided to know everything about that castle he had himself delimited. Every corner, every brick of that castle should be known and kept. The noises outside it were too loud. Thus, the Five has it clear: what was his own, what was not. What he knew, what he did not. Since everything was unknown, and the unknown was always too much, he could only keep looking for a part of the unknown. The safe part, the unknown that was inside the walls. Because of that, the Five also could only keep reinforcing his walls. Not expanding, not enlarging. Just taller and taller.

At the top of the tower, there was nothing to fear, only to know. Nothing to feel, only to keep. The Five frowned, but no one saw.

Many fives walked that kingdom, always building towers. The fives with a four wing chose the best and the finest materials to use. Their walls of marble and windows of ivory had unique, unseen patterns ready to be understood in the five’s strange ways. Sometimes, for an eventual soul who passed by the castle, arcane melodies, followed by long pauses, could be heard from the tower, but nothing more. The fives with a six wing preferred stronger, greyer stones, that looked like other castles in the kingdom. From trying to know everything about the granite they used and about their own castle as their headquarters (intricately filled with the most complex tools) they try to establish a small stand for a market on the walls, but rarely show up.

Some fives developed a self-preservation instinct. Their lifelong dedication to their own castle created the strongest and safest walls, filled with spikes and pits on the outside, but also some goods and fine furniture on the inside. They are not the fanciest or most expensive castles, though.

Other fives, the sexual, created a rich and impressive space indoors. The rooms of the tower had some luxurious, but incredibly eccentric furniture, filled with tunes and old books. However, now of this is apparent on the exterior, that looks like a normal Five castle. Sporadically, these fives go out not only to look for some minor novelties for their own castle, but for some selected people that pass by, and are worthy of sharing the inside of the high and threatening gates of the castle.

Some fives, on the other hand, were mysteriously attracted by what they saw via their single window. The Social Fives enlarged that window, acquired a telescope and binoculars, and dedicate their lives to observe the villages nearby. Their castles have a huge inscription on the gates, that says: “Be brief. Say what you need. And I will help with which is in my reach”. Although they are mostly known for this sign and the times they provided help in some unconventional ways, a rarely known fact is that most of these fives, sometimes, dress like peasants, disguise themselves, and walk to the villages as mysterious travelers, only to talk a bit and walk away to their homes again, invisible.

Advices for the Enneagram types

1: The more you blame yourself for the faults you see in yourself and others, the more you’ll end up seeing them, and more rigid you’ll become;

2: The more you look for someone to depend on you, the more you too will become dependent on this(these) relationships;

3: The more you focus on being “successful”, the less you’ll be satisfied and the less you’ll know what you truly want;

4: The more you obsess with your own suffering as a base for identity, the more you’ll look for it and drown in yourself;

5: The less you engage with the world, the less you’ll be able to engage in the future. Less you’ll know and more illusions you’ll see;

6: The more you doubt people, the more they’ll doubt you. The more you project your fear, the more it’ll be projected onto you. Things that go wrong will be more impactful, and you’ll lose yourself in unbelievable preparations and distrusts;

7: The more you run from any stability, more difficult it’ll be to accept it when necessary. The more you eat, the poorlier the food tastes, and it is more difficult stop eating;

8: The more you impose your certainty of how things are, the less you’ll see that you’re becoming blind; you’ll be wronger, need more imposition and will simply cause toxic environments for yourself and others;

9: The more you give in, the more you’ll feel you didn’t deserve it in the first place. You’ll be gradually erasing yourself.
