NEW MUSIC | JOEY CAPO TO RELEASE BRAND NEW EP ‘WHEN SHOOTING STARS LISTEN’
Joey Capo is an Italian-Vietnamese singer-songwriter and producer. Offering up a dark, atmospheric take on pop and contemporary R&B, Joey’s new body of work is a captivating offering. ‘When Shooting Stars Listen’ features 7 luxurious tracks that are perfect for late-night listening. Produced, written, mixed, and mastered by the talent himself, the EP sees Capo showcase his sharp and masterful ability to create catchy slow jams that really stand out.
Speaking on the project, Joey revealed, “This is my third EP in three years, I started with my EP ‘At Sundown’ which was a story about going through a dark time in my life. Then the second EP was ‘New Moon’, which was me being more transparent to bring closer to that darker side as I move onto new beginnings. I created the EP ‘When Shooting Stars Listen’ because I finally reached a point in my career and life that was once a dream. This EP touches on things in the past, present, and the belief I have in my future. Each song created tells a story on what life once was, to where it’s all going. I created it in that way because the main thing I want to do with my music is inspire the world to believe in themselves. Having them really manifest their own dreams as they truly embody what their life would be like when shooting stars listen.”
Joey Capo was born and raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He began writing music at 16 and by the age of 20, he started teaching himself how to produce his own records. In May 2018, he relocated to Los Angeles, California to further grow his music career. In 2020, the rising talent released an EP titled ‘New Moon’ which garnered notable attention and recognition. The lead single on the EP was not only an international sensation, but was also nominated for R&B record of the year for the Hollywood Music In Media Awards. So far in 2021, he has gone on to release 5 singles, with his impressive track ‘Me Time’ scoring him another HMMA Award nomination for R&B Record of the Year.
As Capo continues to climb the ladder of success, he aims to paint a vivid and meaningful picture from beginning to end in every song he creates, never losing sight of the true passion he has for music. With Joey Capo’s fast rise to fame, he is one music recording artist in today’s new school era you should keep an eye on as he continues his journey to the top.

NEW MUSIC | XYG OFFICIALLY RELEASES 'CHILL VIBE SEASON'
Listen Here
His first ever release on all major platforms. The short project consists of two songs ‘Chill Vibe’ and ‘Talk to you’.
‘Chill Vibe Season’ is self explanatory, however to go into greater detail, XYG wanted to capture the pure essence. Inspired by women in General, XYG created this project which reflected his love life at the time of creation (June 2020) during Lockdown.
Always being judged and labeled as a ‘player’ due to his handsome appearance and natural charm, XYG wanted to address women in General, as being someone who genuinely wants to Chill and catch a Vibe.. “The one for me will catch the vibe, it’s only a matter of time”.
Being a sapiosexual who gets turned on by pure Love and intelligence, the Chill Vibe song is quite X rated, as the word play and flow addresses a scenario in which the listeners can use their imagination to paint a beautiful work of art.
XYG added voicenotes of multiple females at the end of the song to address the ‘typical’ stereotype given to him. “I wanted to create some controversy. All the women that rejected me without giving me a chance, purely off of my appearance and passing judgement. I’m used to it now”. The song ‘Talk to you’ highlights the mastery XYG possesses. “I felt I always missed the opportunity to talk to someone I could potentially see a future with. So I created ‘Talk to you’ based on that emotion. Getting the chance to talk to someone special, one on one and express how I feel”.
This is the first of many releases from the Artist.

NEW MUSIC | ALCHEMIST TEEARNS RELEASES HER HONEST, REFLECTIVE DEBUT ALBUM 'OOPSIE'
Listen Here
With the start of darker days, colder weather and the end of the year reflection, new artist Alchemist Teearns has timed her release just perfectly. Her debut release ‘Oopsie’ is a feel good, honest 8 track album dripping in self-confidence and self-love and is set to spark emotions with her relatable lyricism.
Turning pain and loss into art, this 8 track album is a true insight into what Alchemist Teearns is about, with open and vulnerable lyrics that may shock even those close to her. Alchemist Teearns began writing this album last December after walking away from a long term relationship. After feeling like she had lost who she was, the writing and recording process of this album saw Alchemist Teearns fulfill the promise she made to herself to never let that happen again. Written, recorded and mixed by Alchemist Teearns in her home studio, this album is her 100%. Describing the creative process as long and reflective, ‘Oopsie’ has sarcastic undertones, and feels like we are being let into an inside joke. Hoping to transport her listeners to a new world with her album, ‘Oopsie’ is an exciting debut from this talented new artist.
Growing up in a musical household, Alchemist Teearns has always been most comfortable with a microphone in her hand. Alchemist Teearns has been rapping and writing her own lyrics since she was in school, drawing influence from the likes of SZA, Summer Walker, H.E.R, and IAMDDB. Describing her sound as mellow hip-hop and R&B, Alchemist Teearns has set up her own record label and streetwear brand, Street Disciples who will be releasing her debut album later this month.

NEW MUSIC | DANNY BYRD LINKS UP WITH D DOUBLE E FOR D&B BELTER ‘SELECTA’ VIA MINISTRY OF SOUND
  Buy/Stream ‘Selecta’ here
Two legends from their respective scenes, Danny Byrd and D Double E join forces for the ultimate crossover collab on Selecta via Ministry Of Sound.
With Danny Byrd breaking through on the scene with old school D&B and jungle over 20 years ago, and D Double E originally cutting his teeth as an MC across jungle beats and pirate radio, the pair make for the perfect duo as they revisit their roots in this latest release.
Paying a nod to 1996-1998 D&B with a fresh production twist, Selecta infuses weighty jungle breakdowns with funky 90s horn samples. Weaving D Double E’s rapid yet playful bars that take centre stage, Selecta is transformed into a modern dance anthem primed to infiltrate club floors and airwaves alike.
A D&B icon, Danny signed to Hospital 20 years ago, leading to no.1’s on the Dance Singles Chart, UK Top 40 entries, numerous BBC R1 plays, a BBC R1 Essential Mix and more. His previous collabs include the likes of General Levy, MC GQ and Netsky with his versatile sound receiving support from the likes of Sub Focus, High Contrast, Rudimental, DJ Marky, Metrik, Friction, S.P.Y, Brookes Brothers and many others.
Meanwhile, D Double E needs little introduction. Before catapulting to wider acclaim with his tongue and cheek verses for IKEA on Fresh N Clean, the esteemed grime artist was initially one of the first rappers to nurture the genre of the back off D&B, jungle and garage. Most recently, his latest album Double Or Nothing arose to critical acclaim whilst featuring fellow a-list talent including Kano, Giggs, Ms Banks, Ghetts, JME and Triggs.
Demonstrating a genre crossing hit at it’s very best, Danny Byrd and D Double E’s Selecta is a product of two impressive worlds colliding for an undeniable crowd pleaser.
Danny Byrd & D Double E – Selecta is out now via Ministry Of Sound.

NEW MUSIC | RAPPER RAVY AND PRODUCER RUBEN AZZIZ ARE HERE TO SHAKE THE ROOM WITH THEIR LATEST COLLABORATION “DECOLONIZE YOUR BRAIN”
Tumblr media
youtube
Hailing from the Netherlands, London based rapper Ravy releases her latest empowering single “DECOLONIZE Your BRAIN” together with producer Ruben Azziz, known for his productions “Lights Down” by Celina Sharma, Ivorian Doll, Stonebwoy in the USA and “Kuma” by Eneida Marta in Guinée Bissau, amongst other countries.
“DECOLONIZE Your BRAIN” is their own style of Hip Hop blended with Electric sounds and heavy drums, serving a catchy and infectious blend that stands out immediately.
On “DECOLONIZE Your BRAIN” Ravy raps about their view on the world being disillusioned by propaganda, hate and it’s time to turn things around with the truth, no matter how harsh it might sound.
In the “DECOLONIZE Your BRAIN” video, Ravy and Ruben depicts how Europe’s wealth has been built and names several iconic freedom fighters from several countries that didn’t back down until their last breath. Following “Hush” and “KICKIN’ IT”, it seemed the right time to drop their third collaboration on Black History Month, educating the listeners with a little history class produced by Bissau-Guinean producer and longtime collaborator Ruben Azziz.
Speaking about the track Ravy states,
“Being of Surinamese Indian origin, I have always had to deal with racism and false information about my culture and black culture, even by people of color. This is where I started to do my own research and read books, watch documentaries, visit museums, talk to activists, historians, etc. to write the lyrics and simplify it for the people. In the Western world we learn everything about World War 2, but what about the other wars and genocide? We have to become aware of how it all started to understand the world we live in now. We have to become aware of the truth.”

NEW MUSIC | BAGZ BOGOTTI RELEASES LATEST ALBUM 'JACKIE BABY'
Release Date: 23rd October, 2021
Pre-Save Here
Ohio based artist, Bagz Bogotti releases his brand new album, ‘Jackie Baby‘. Named after his beloved mother, this record pays homage to the love and support she gave to him and his two siblings when they were younger, and follows themes of strength, resilience, and finding the truth in a world full of hate. Bogotti’s life is the main influence of his music; without his experiences and life choices, this album wouldn’t have been possible. With subject matter similar to 2pac, and style and instrumentation fusing more modern sounds, Bagz Bogotti has managed to craft a release that is distinctively him.
After his girlfriend tragically passed away in 2013, Bogotti realised it was time to get serious. Using his experiences to create music, this event led him to release a series of singles that have defined him as an artist and a rapper. With help from release contributors JPad The Juggernaut, Mizzhitzbeatz, Svgarbeatz, Kapacho.madeit, and Time Is Muzik, Bogotti’s ‘Jackie Baby‘ will hit speakers on the 23rd of October – and we’ve all got our clocks set.

New Post has been published on https://www.iamhiphopmagazine.com/interview-meet-edinburghs-hip-hop-artist-7ru-factz-hip-hop-is-such-a-powerful-tool-to-spread-knowledge-and-truth/
INTERVIEW | MEET EDINBURGH'S HIP-HOP ARTIST 7RU FACTZ "HIP HOP IS SUCH A POWERFUL TOOL TO SPREAD KNOWLEDGE AND TRUTH"
7ru Factz is a hip hop artist from Edinburgh, Scotland. 7ru has been making music for over 20 years, doing collaborations with Scottish, English and American artists. 7ru’s music tells stories about life through his eyes growing up in one of the poorest areas in Edinburgh his stories are dark and hard hitting. But that’s not all he brings to the table his visions on how to make the world a better place targeting political and world issues are also much a real thing for him and he makes it known in his music.
We catch up with him to learn more about what Hip-Hop means to him.
Tell us a bit about your Hip-Hop influences?
My influences in hip hop has got to be 2pac, he was a voice for the people. Definitely the Wu Tang Clan they spoke truth and also came very raw with it. Vinnie Paz, Kevin Gates, Mic Righteous. There is too many to name, but I do like hip hop that comes with a message of influence and positivity.
What is the Hip-Hop scene like in Edinburgh? You have been in the scene for a long time, has it evolved and grown?
The hip hop scene in Edinburgh is growing more and more people are starting to make music which is good because it brings more attention to the music scene. I have been in the hip hop scene since I was 13. Over 20 years I’ve gave my life to this music. But you do have to open up your own doors just like everything in life nothing is going to be given on a plate you definitely need to work.
Your music speaks a lot about issues concerning poverty, how important is it for you to use your music as a tool to speak about societal issues?
I feel music in general is the best way to get across societal issues. Everyone listens to music and to create good music with a meaning then you are doing something right. Music brings people together it’s a universal language. But I find it hard to talk about things I know nothing about, so I talk about what happens in the world or in my life and my surroundings and people around me.  People who see what I see know that what I’m speaking is true and know it’s not only them who feel a certain way people also feel their pain. I want people to know they are not alone.
The past 2 years have been difficult for a lot of artists, how did the pandemic affect you?
The pandemic affected me mostly with live performances and mental health. My mental health took a kicking, it was such a set back and I was depressed drinking way more than usual. I know that stands for a lot of people and some will and can relate to such feelings, but I felt that for the first time in my life. I hated not being able to perform. I have a home studio so I was still able to make music and do videos but the live scene was totally away. But when the government said that musicians should look for a new career path that made me go harder on music I was determined to go harder.
Tell us a bit about your most recent album ‘Holy Water’? What themes can be found?
Holy Water was me at war with myself. People saying look for the light but with light comes shadows, I seen myself drawn towards the shadows. So, I just wrote how I was feeling on paper and made it into an album. It’s a very dark album but one of my best I feel because it really does have my blood, sweat and tears put into it.
You have a few collaborations on the album – tell us a bit about the artists you showcase?
The artists on my album I have worked with a lot. I like to try and work with different people and branch out but for Holy water I wanted to keep it to whom I know and love to work with. All of them are amazing in their field of music so I knew it would work well. One artist raps, does punk and rock music, the other is a hip-hop artist from New York and the other is a soul, jazzy singer. But all that together made magic.
Hip-Hop is such a powerful tool for expression, how has it impacted your life?
Hip hop has made me realise that in life I share the same visions as many others, and I should speak on those issues. I actually want to get into politics so people like me can have a voice.
It’s not fair us having no voice in parliament and real issues not being addressed by people who don’t care. People who do care should be the ones speaking. And if you do care you will educate yourself so you can sit in a room with these MPs and tell them what’s really the truth and reality.
That’s why hip hop is such a powerful tool to spread knowledge and truth.
What do you like to do when you are not making music?
When I’m not making music I like to read, I read a lot, I read up on laws. But I mainly like to read books historical books about generals from back in the day. How they thought, how they strategised and manoeuvred. I find it very fascinating. My favourite book is the 33 strategies of war.
What has been your biggest achievement to date?
The biggest achievement for me in all honestly was defeating myself and finding my true self. That was a real journey being able to overcome. If you are talking musically opening up for Mic Righteous at the end of October year. That is massive for me.
What have you got coming out in the near future?
I have an album coming out in February I hope called “Last Forever” it’s not as dark as Holy Water, but I feel the music on this will last forever. It’s not as emotional as my last album but it’s still honest. I would actually say this album is more upbeat but still let’s you know that life is real. I’m also planning more live events after the end of this year. I want to travel more across the UK with my music. And this October 22nd I’m bringing Mic Righteous to Edinburgh he will be performing at The Hive, Edinburgh, so I have a lot on at last

NEW MUSIC | CONKARAH GETS THE PARTY STARTED WITH DANCE-INDUCING NEW SINGLE & MUSIC VIDEO “SWITCH (FATTY FATTY)– REMIX” FT. ROACH KILLA
Conkarah teams with Canadian South Asian recording artist and producer Roach Killa for a new party-starter single and music video “Switch (Fatty Fatty) –REMIX,” from the forthcoming debut EP Destination Unknown (BMG), available everywhere November 12 .
“Switch (Fatty Fatty) –REMIX,” co-written by Conkarah and produced by Roach Killa, is a feel- good blend of South Asian and Caribbean-flare, combined with a dance-inducing and infectious track that will force you out of your seat. The new release is accompanied by a high-energy music video that celebrates the uniqueness of both cultures, directed by U.K. director Reece Selvadorai for Grade A Productions.
Of “Switch (Fatty Fatty) –REMIX,” Conkarah says, “It was great working with Roach Killa. I love the energy and flavor he has added to this remix. I’m excited to share this new uplifting track with the world at a time when unity and positive vibrations is what we need most.”
Roach Kill adds, “When management came to me with the opportunity to do an official remix of ‘Everybody Switch,’ I wanted to deliver something fresh and unique with a mix of Dancehall and my South Asian roots. I wanted to create an East meets West sound because music has no language. It’s a feeling with positive vibes.”
Over the summer, Conkarah released a flavourful track and music video for “Papaya (Sick Wit It Crew Mix).” The release was the follow up single to the 2x Diamond-certified global hit “Banana,” featuring GRAMMY® award-winning reggae singer/producer Shaggy—which has now surpassed over 2 billion global streams to date, the first Jamaican artist to accomplish this milestone in a short release period.

NEW MUSIC | AESOP ROCK & BLOCKHEAD DROP NEW VIDEO 'JAZZ HANDS' AHEAD OF COLLABORATIVE ALBUM 'GARBOLOGY'
Aesop Rock and longtime musical ally Blockhead have announced the upcoming release of the collaborative album Garbology via Rhymesayers Entertainment on November 12. Though the pair’s collaborative relationship stretches all the way back to when they were first starting out in the late 90’s, including Blockhead producing two of the most popular songs of Aesop’s back catalog (“Daylight” and “None Shall Pass”) as well as several features across each other’s releases, Garbology marks their first full length release together. The pair have shared an early taste with album track “Jazz Hands,” a stunning stream of consciousness musical and lyrical sprint bolstered by an accompanying music video by Rob Shaw – watch here.
Garbology came together in the midst of Aesop processing the loss of a close friend in January of 2020, which resulted in a creative lull. “The world got really weird during those months,” recalls Aesop. “I knew at some point I had to get back to making something. Make a beat. Draw a picture. Write. Just go. But the idea of making a beat felt like math homework, and drawing is just so hard. Writing is hard too, but at some point I had to pick one.” Having ultimately decided on writing as the path forward, Aesop hit up Blockhead for beats. Initially, there wasn’t any particular plan beyond creating some songs, but as the songs kept piling up it wasn’t long before an album was born.
Garbology musically encapsulates our current moment; a snapshot of Aes and Block entertaining themselves in an era where social interactions are limited, all while “anchored on a goulash of cabin fever, fear, anger and boredom”, as Aesop describes it. As for the title, he explains that “Garbology is defined as the study of the material discarded by a society to learn what it reveals about social or cultural patterns. I find a lot of parallels between that and the idea of picking up the pieces after a loss or period of intense unrest, and seeing what’s really there. It’s information that speaks to who I am, who we are, and how we move forward. Furthermore – the idea of digging through old, often neglected music from another time with an ear tuned for taking in that data in a different way than your average listener would is exactly what Block does. Go through the information and see what you find.”
In the spirit of the album’s theme, the vinyl has been pressed as an “eco-mix”, a 100% recycled compound comprised of trimmed flash and left overs from other color vinyl pressings which cannot otherwise be reused, resulting in every copy of the LP having its own unique appearance while significantly reducing the environmental impact of the pressing process.
