This is entirely incorrect. The most detested person is the tanner for the smell of death and for working with dead animals. Tanners were often away from the town because washing the hairs from the leathers were done with heavy chemicals that would pollute the ground water and streams. Tanners would have burned hands that would sometimes resemble illnesses that were common at the time and were confusing for many uneducated people during this time. I have never heard of this in any of my time reading about nutrition or in my time studying this era and this sounds entirely made up. It was often that millers (and bakers) were sponsored by knights and lords...and kings depending on their area of living. This could be due to mass starvation but either way, due to many nations being vastly different from each other, it would be foolish to characterize the miller as “most detested” as too many differences exist culturally about food but not about feelings on dead animals. Now that aside... Regina was NEVER a miller. Her mother was the daughter of a miller. Regina was always a princess. Henry was a prince. We do not see their lands. These titles are made very clear in the episodes. Please do not confuse others with misinformation as this is a common thing done in this fandom. Regina was NEVER A MILLER. She was ALWAYS A PRINCESS. This would never apply to her anyway.
In a medieval village, the miller tended to be the most detested individual. Why? Because the feeling of dependency engendered with his monopoly over the local flour... Instead of feeling gratitude, his customers felt resentment and suspicion that he was overcharging for his services
-Consider The Fork by Bee Wilson
An interesting perspective as to part of why Regina and her family may have already been much hated even before her mom started to be evil.

Cool story bro. That’s not what she said. She’s literally saying she wanted anything to do with her part since Adam and Eddy completely shelved her after “shady Blue” theories meant her part got screwed over from playing any part at all. She hoped by “embracing” it she’d get some part, if any part... Thus a paycheck so she could feed her kids. But you know, like most of the other actors who weren’t Lana and Colin (he got made into a regular after a picture of him leaked and the fan response was high), she got screwed over. Shady Blue ruined Keegan’s chances at being taken seriously or having a storyline. #fuckyouandyourshadyblue Good to know who I can block now that I’m back on Tumblr.
Remember how everyone thought the Blue Fairy was shady AF? It wasn’t in our heads! Vindication!

When you start watching Once Upon a Time it’s a box with feminism wrapping paper. Then you open the box and surprise, it’s toxic masculinity with a Karen haircut holding it out to you and asking you to love her acts of murder, child abuse, rape, and animal abuse. And then you look at the party favors and it’s all fight-girls with no nuance and when those fight girls try to be something more the fans hurl slurs so what a shitty party this is.
#once upon a time#once upon a time discourse#anti regina mills#i still love the show#but fuck regina and her fans#and fuck the people who said shit about emma wearing a dress you know#and we can do more than having every girl fight this is total bullshit#women are varied#we're not something at the zoo but apparently we are to these writers

Right so here’s insight from another person. We do get some definitive hints that they’re not in control. We get small but very telling actions. Musical cues. Facial features from not just Josh Dallas and Ginnifer Goodwin, but Kristin Bauer van Straten and others present in these related scenes. Everything slows down for just a moment and we notice something isn’t adding up. This needed to be made very, very clear because, dusting out my old acting writing and actors “pants” here... Nobody is going to know what’s going on unless you make it bigger because through the camera lens, people are going to be distracted. Suddenly your “small” things look a lot smaller and people won’t notice unless they’re industry insiders and facepalming going “why did you screw this up so badly you’re supposed to be professionals” The kicker of it all is... The finale. Why would only Snow White and Charming go after Isaac? Even being a “hero” didn’t sit well with the other characters so that’s a good reason to go after him and stop the fanfiction from hell, but it’s just Snow White and Charming. Unfortunately what you have is a jigsaw puzzle that really doesn’t work with the Heroes and Villains setting. This isn’t a well written season. It speaks of weak choices and that the writing says they wanted to do something but were afraid to offend fans of other characters so “let’s make them as bad as others because nobody can really be that good because good is boring...right guys?” This is an entirely different conversation in which you pick up 30-40 year old white men, slap them across the face, and tell them I don’t buy that toxic masculinity and shove it up their ass in no uncertain terms. Those words used for emphasis.
Does anyone else think that the OUAT take on forgiveness is actually really toxic?
"All sins can be forgiven if someone loves you," no, they can't, because forgiveness comes from the person you wronged.
Henry and Robin can't forgive Regina for casting the curse, they can only forgive her for abusing them/murdering their wife. They don't get to forgive her for casting the curse that predominantly affected Snow/David/Emma/the rest of Storybrooke.
Same with Rumple - Belle loves him, so he's forgiven for murdering Milah? (Twice, if you count 5B) Killian sure as shit doesn't think so.
Snow and David love each other, does that mean they're forgiven for what they did to Maleficent and Lily?
Gepetto loves August, does that mean he's forgiven for stealing the watch money meant for Emma and convincing Neal to betray her?
Emma loves Killian. Does that mean he's forgiven by everyone he hurt over the years? Ursula forgives him for what he did to her. David forgives him for what he did to David's father. They forgive him for the specific things he did to them, not everyone he wronged over 200+ years.
I find this version super toxic. It also feels very Christian (confess your sins and God forgives you because he loves you, so you're now free of sin)*, which is especially odd to me given that A&E are Jewish and therefore come from an entirely different cultural framework for how forgiveness works.
*note I am Jewish this is about as deep a knowledge of christian theology as I have so if I'm super off base please correct me, but the Jewish version of forgiveness is decidedly different
