There are estimated to be upwards of 125 billion galaxies in the known ever expanding universe. Our own Milky Way galaxy is estimated to contain upwards of 200 billion stars. Earth orbits just one of these stars. Our galaxy is estimated to be around 100,000 light years from end to end. In perspective, at the speed of light it would take just 3 seconds to travel to the moon and back, it took Apollo13 a total of 5 days, 22 hours 54 minutes. Our Solar system contains 8 planets. How many planets exist in our galaxy? If life came to exist here, then could life exist elsewhere? What about the estimated 106,456,367,669 people walked this earth before us, what did they do? Who were they? Did they all face the same internal and external struggles we face? If so how did they accept them? Or did they simply choose to live in ignorance of their existence? Life is interesting and challenging, yet rewarding. How does one best use the time they have been gifted? Perhaps through the relationships we hold with others? It is my belief that the greatest intangible asset one can possess, is that of well maintained interpersonal relationships. After all, these are the only ‘possessions’ of real value or meaning that one can obtain. They can last a lifetime, they need no warranty, they create possibilities and opportunities, and ultimately are more emotionally and mentally rewarding than any material possession. I don’t have it all figured out yet, but I do know this one simple truth. We only live once and we only have one chance to do it right. The quality of our existence is affected ultimately by our self perception, our perception of reality and the effect our actions have upon others.

“All life on our planet is closely related. We have a common organic chemistry, and a common evolutionary heritage. And so our biologists are profoundly limited. They study a single biology, one lonely theme in the music of life. Is it the only voice for thousands of light years, or is there a cosmic fugue, a billion different voices playing the life music of the galaxy?”
