There are just five days before the election, but your ability to actually vote could be hindered by voter ID laws designed to suppress turnout. Earlier this year, The Washington Post’s Historically Black (@historicallyblack) gathered a panel of experts to answer questions about voting rights. Take a read.
And before you go to the polls, review your state’s voter ID requirements to make sure you won’t be turned away.
Have another question? Nothing is too stupid to ask The Washington Post (@washingtonpost). Their Ask Box is open and active.

Polls start opening in under 12 hours but felony convictions disenfranchise more than 5 million people, including 7% of the African-American community. A major contributor to the problem is the school-to-prison pipeline: A system of flawed policies that send at-risk youth—especially people of color—directly into the criminal justice system.
Mic’s The Movement (@the-movemnt) did an Issue Time on the subject. It’s well worth your time, and it’ll give you plenty to chew on when you ✧・゚*go and vote tomorrow*・゚✧

Scott Michael Greene killed two Iowa cops last Wednesday, November 2nd. Before he was identified as the killer, a lot of people took to social media to blame the Black Lives Matter for the killing of the police officers.
A week prior, Greene was kicked out of a local high school football game for waving a Confederate flag in the face of Black fans.
He’s alive.

52-year-old Noel Christner Kuebler Jr. from Arnold, Missouri, also killed two police officers last Friday, November 4th.
Kuebler has been charged with three counts of assault on a law enforcement officer, three counts of armed criminal action and one count of felony resisting arrest.
He’s also still alive.

And again on Sunday, November 6th, another white man Ralph Elrod (unfortunately there’s no picture of him yet) killed an officer and injured another.  He saw his Black neighbors riding around on 4-wheelers and left the house to threaten them. When witnesses called the authorities, Elrod shot a deputy and injured another. Other officers responded and shot Elrod in the stomach.
But guess what? He’s alive and is currently being treated at a local hospital.

Dylann Roof fatally shot 9 Black people at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston.
The first selection of the jury in his trial was supposed to be Monday, November 7. However, it was delayed while the judge considers a motion filed by the defense team.

Officer Michael Slager repeatedly shot and killed Walter Scott for running away after Slager pulled him over for a non-functioning brake light.
Tumblr media
Officer Ray Tensing shot and killed Sam Dubose during a routine traffic stop in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dubose wasn’t speeding or swerving. Just a typical example of racial profiling.
It was recently revealed that Tensing was wearing a t-shirt with the Confederate flag on it under his uniform.

If you’re white you can kill a police officer or two, be taken alive and face trial.
If you’re Black, you better not breathe around a cop, cause that’ll get you killed and god knows whether that cop will be charged with the murder…

When there are efforts being taken to keep us from the polls, the act of voting itself is a way of protesting.

(Had to post this again...critical) Once we all understand that the school systems are designed to funnel "OUR" chidren through this modern "enslavement factory" and make their education (in school AND at home) our FIRST priority, we will then start to see REAL progress for our people...🐝
