what ive been up to this summer: I had a pretty productive summer, i’d say. The first few weeks, I went through most of my IB year one materials so that I won’t forget anything. Repetition is very important. For three weeks in July, I was on a volunteer trip in Ghana, where I learnt and realised so many things about life. I’ll make a separate post on things I have learnt during this experience. When I got back home, I immediately began self-studying and preparing for my year two. There’s so much pressure because the year two grades essentially determines my future path. One example is the economics notes above. I haven’t been the best in my Economics class so I wanted to get a headstart. I took notes on International Economics, which is the next chapter we’ll be learning. School starts in 3 days. I’m scared, but i’m also excited for what’s to come.

lil update:
I am truly sorry for being away for so many weeks.
I didn’t know if I was the best person to give any advice anymore.
But now,
That thought stops,
I’m back.
stay tuned.

reminder to myself.
i’m not perfect,
i try,
and i stop.
i fall,
and i fail,
and i break down.
and i give up.
but no,
stop that.
pain is temporary.
i don’t want to feel pain for nothing.
i want to feel pain and be proud of it in the future.
i don’t want regret to haunt me,
the thought that i could have done better to cloud my mind.
i want to show my full potential,
work to be the best version of me.
i am strong,
i am smart,
i am kind,
i am powerful,
i am loved,
i am important.
i try?
keep on going.
i fall and i fail?
get up, try again,
fight for it.
don’t ever give up,
don’t ever cry for nothing,
just fight for it,
don’t quit now.

pictured: a sample of what my schedule might look like
For me personally, I have several steps that I follow during the weeks following up to exams. I usually start studying a month before exams, just because there are so much content, and I do not work well if I cram everything. And since the week following the exams, there are so much more to study for. So, if I spread things out, it's much more efficient to study.
Before I start organising my schedule, I write a list of what I have to do. Then I just separate it into each day. I like to do this on OneNote so I can add To-do check boxes.
It's very hard to explain my schedule in words, but I'll try my best!
I change my scheduling method often, but this is currently the one that I follow:
Let's say my math exam is in 4 weeks,
Week 1: notes on each chapter and homework questions that I had difficulties in
Week 2: finish up textbook questions + start on practice papers
Week 3: practice papers + do more practices on the topics I'm still not confident in
Week 4: past papers
The last day before my exam, I try to do less studying so I don't feel pressured. Plus, by the time it's the day before exam, I already know my contents, so I have to relax and get into the mind set of ace-ing my exam!
*I try not to skip a day without doing any math. Since math is a subject where practice makes perfect. If I don't feel motivated, I try to do at least one sub-topic.
I like to allocate at least 90 mins to each of my classes. Of course, there are days where my plan does not work out. However, I don't freak out, I just do it the next day. But NEVER EVER push all your work, saying you'll do it tomorrow because that’s the equivalent to not studying and you just wasted you time and effort making a schedule (lil rough)
Hope you found this helpful!
If you have any questions, feel free to ask me!

Warning: I have a complete different opinion on IBD than all of my friends so I might be an unreliable source. But still keep on reading to know my view on the IBDP program!
Part I:
Hi, I'm just a 16 year old girl, waking up at 6 in the morning (sometimes 4 in the morning to study), and getting back to bed at 10:30 (except assessment heavy weeks, where I sleep before 12). Unlike last year, I only get around 6 hours of sleep on assessment-heavy weeks, but when it's not, I get around 8 hours of sleep. Keep in mind, I'm still one of the people who have the most amount of sleep.
This past months of IBD, I learnt so much about time management. Since I have soccer practices everyday after school, I have to juggle extracurricular and academics. It's hard, but I'm surviving it. Practise for me, is a time to escape academics and have a time for myself, have a switch of views. I realised that time is precious, which is why I stopped procrastinating.
I also learnt that IBD is not as bad as people say. Yes, the workload is way heavier, and I barely have time to do things other than studying, but I met so many more people that I could rely on. IBD kids stick together, support each other, and save each other from drowning. I have learnt about the importance of collaboration (LOL yeah). When you don't know something, they do. When they don't know something, you do. Oh, and when you have to rant about a teacher? They understand and stick by you. Sometimes they are willing to go to admins to file a complaint. It's amazing how close I have gotten to people I never talked to before.
IBD also guided me to find what I truly love to study. I have never been that kid with the perfectly planned future. I kind of followed what my brother wanted to do and always believed that's where I was going to end up. I chose my courses based on what my brother wanted to become. But now, I found out that what I am interested in and what I want to pursue is completely different from what my brother is currently studying. I began to regret my choices in course selection, I began thinking about my future so much, I began working harder to reach my future goals. I found my motivation and goals, and I'm ready to tackle the obstacles.
Here's part one of my honest review on IBD. Ask me any questions, and I'll answer it!
Stay tuned for more parts, xx

How I study IB Psych
Aim: to investigate how I study psychology
Method:
You’ll need a pen, paper, index cards, highlighters, textbook, your brain
1. Before every class, I like to read and take notes of the chapter. This will help you truly understand the content you’ll be learning in class. Also, you can ask any questions you have in class.
2. Organise all the studies you have learnt so far into different topics/ learning outcomes
a. You’ll see that there are some overlapping studies that can be used in different topics
i. Memorise those! You’ll cut down the number of studies you have to study
3. Read through your notes again and see which studies really interest you.
a. It’s safer to study at least 2 or 3 studies for some ERQ-worthy topics. I usually don’t study the procedural parts in depth, but I focus mostly on connecting the study to the question
4. Index cards
a. I love using index cards because its quick yet detailed enough. For me at least, I learn best when I write things down.
b. I will post a part two of how I study psych to tell you all about the structures I use for my notes and index cards
Result:
• Study less but you study more!
• You thoroughly understand the content
○ Detailed analysis of few studies
• Nice and quick study notes
Conclusion/ link:
• I assure you that you will get a better grade with this method because you won’t have to memorise 1000 studies. Instead, you’ll study few studies in depth, and so answering your SAQ or ERQ will be much easier!
• The whole purpose of this method is not to simply memorise but truly understand the studies and knowing how to apply it to the question
Do you see the format? That’s the SAQ format:
• Intro
• Description of study
• Connection/ link to question
I’ll talk about the structure that has been helping me in a later post! Have a good day(:

Hey! I’m planning to take HL economics, English Lang lit & psychology. Do you have any tips? Also is the workload heavy? Thank you so much 💖💖💖also I really like your blog x
hi! I’m glad that you like my blog! I am so sorry for the late reply, I’m still trying to figure out how to use tumblr. For psychology, I actually don’t have that great of a teacher, so I am currently self-studying that - I will be making a post about how i study psychology very soon! HL economics, to be very honest, is a little bit tough for me right now because my teacher wants a specific structure when writing our papers. So, I do have to study a lot for economics, but the workload is not that heavy. The content is not that hard as well. For Lang&Lit, be prepared to annotate, write essays, presentation, and more annotation! Overall, I think the workload depends on how much effort you put in.

ib psychology: study smart, not study more. make a flashcard for each learning outcomes. do not memorise all the studies and experiments. all my friends memorised over 25 studies for BLOA. and there was me who only memorised 8 studies and experiments. i got the better score, and im 100% sure you will too.

you’ll be fine, they said.
just starting out ib year one,
and i already feel tethered to a post.
im hoping this would help,
a journal as my source of therapy.
i can’t really talk to anyone about my thoughts and feelings,
but maybe this tumblr will help me out. and help you too.
all anonymous.
i won’t be complaining much,
i’ll just be updating what’s going in my ib journey,
that be academics, friends, thoughts, and life.
we’ll have loads of fun and stress,
digging out the soil,
and finding out what happens by the end of year two.
