Ok so halfway through The Hunting Wives.

Is it a "good" show?

.... well, no. No it's not. Not by any tangible measure.

But, do you find yourself watching it with this rapt morbid fascination? A lingering feeling of "wtf am I watching🤨" that is compelling you to keep hitting 'Next Episode'? Yes. Yes you do.

Overall it's like if someone took all the most offputting stereotypes (some if which are extremely accurate) about affluent white southern, NRA, bible belt, hypocritical conservatism, put them in a bag along with a heaping pile of sexually charged toxic yuri, shook it up, and then dumped it out all over a plate of true-crime murder mystery genre... that would be this show.

It's terrible. And yet? It's a masterpiece.

Anyway 5 eps in and I think it's the ex girlfriend 🧐

THE HUNTING WIVES has a stupid title, but it's a rare modern show that dares to ask the really important questions, like, "What if you were trapped in fucking Texas, and MILFy bisexual Malin Åkerman wanted to get in your pants, but she was a right-wing megachurch-going gun nut who might frame you for Crimes?"

Poker Face really feels like the sort of show that people on this website would go crazy for and yet I feel like no one on here cares about it, like Natasha Lyonne as a Colombo-style nomadic detective with a borderline supernatural ability to tell when someone’s lying who calls herself a “grown ass man” and “just some guy”, a murder of the week style plot and weekly episode releases as opposed to the entire season dropping at once, created by the same guy who made Knives Out and potentially even takes place in the same universe considering the main character appeared in Glass Onion, and a colorful, 70s aesthetic YALL GOTTA GET ON THIS SHIT

the most disorienting thing thats ever happened to me was when a linguistics major stopped in the middle of our conversation, looked me in the eye, and said, "you have a very interesting vernacular. were you on tumblr in 2014?" and i had to just stand there and process that one for a good ten seconds
