Some people say the one who votes automatically becomes a kāfir. This is incorrect There's a principle called Udhr Bi Jahl (Excuse of Ignorance), for example one may not know the reality of elections eg they vote only because they think they will get a pay rise, less taxes etc. However Allah mentions in the Qur'ān that Legislation is for none but Him جل في علاه, and anyone who opposes Him in legislation is a Tāghūt, and it is upon the Muslims to reject and disassociate from them in their entirety including their kufr legislations, until Allah is worshipped alone. RasulAllah صلى الله عليه وسلم said ad-Deenu Naseeha, so it's also upon the Muslims to advise those who are unaware about the reality of elections with the evidences to prove it, and only the who rejects the evidences after it has been made clear to him and has his doubts removed, then this one rejects the words of Allah and His messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم and thus disbelieves. May Allah protect us and guide us all Ameen Ya Rabb
