Character Ramble - Aurelius, the lost prince - Time Warp SMP
There was a prince, beloved by his kingdom and known across the entire land for his leadership and skill, for his kindness and sincerity. He dressed every day in royal robes, deep blues and rich golds, the whitest of white and the darkest of blacks. He was the perfect prince and every single subject knew it, they could not ever hope or wish for a better heir to the throne and he had become the pride and joy of their lives. He was the Prince, and they, in every way, were his people.
The Prince, like most people, had parents. A King and a Queen of the kingdom who were, as in most other stories, terrible people. Behind every pristine wall was another fight, an argument, fancy cups and bowls and plates shattered against doors or heads. Servants were removed every few days because of collateral damage from the monarchs' rages. They were only ever upset with each other, but the castle shook with fear at every fight, unknowing of who would be injured this time.
The Prince was many things, he was smart, he was tired, he was trusted. He could not take another fight, could not handle his mother and father a day longer. In the night he slipped away, in his pockets enough gold to last him years and the prized possession of his mother’s vault. It was a dainty little thing, a white heart edged in bright sky-blue, accented in enchanted gold that shined even with no light to reflect. Off he went, a shimmer and he was gone, nothing but smoke left where he once stood.
A new dimension, overrun with different people, new cultures and customs, strange greetings and names. The Prince took like a fish to land, struggling at every turn to gasp for air as he acclimated, until he met a boy. Months went by, the prince yearning for his kingdom a mere weeks after leaving, stopping every moment to think of his people, of the subjects who would be waiting for him.
The Prince loved the boy, but he loved his people more.
There were once again no real goodbyes, the Prince took his artifact and used it again, turning to nothing in a dimension never meant for him, before appearing in another.
Over and over again the prince moved, every new dimension and reality and world melding together in his mind and he lived thousands of lives. Time moves differently in every world, something he learned quickly as he discovered new and old things. The most modern of inventions and the most ancient of texts, he saw other kingdoms rise and fall and watched planets consumed by stars.
The Prince was desperate. He could not get home, his artifact took him nowhere in specific, moving him through thousands of realities. His people were waiting, his kingdom was waiting. Odysseus to Penelope, he traversed millions of dangers: defied gods and befriended titans, fought monsters and people alike. He was so close, he felt it after every jump, this next one would surely be the last. If he kept using the artifact it would need to bring him home eventually.
Until it didn't. Until the people of a dimension claimed there was no leaving. Until every form of magic to leave yet another reality was locked down, a prison of a place that spelled doom for the Prince. His people expected him to be King, they had been eagerly awaiting his crowning, happy for their wonderful prince to be their ruler. He had failed them, and now there was no coming back.
Somewhere there is a kingdom full of adoring subjects, patient for a prince that will never come home. Somewhere there is a King and Queen, desperately trying to cover up their ‘daughter’ going missing. Somewhere a boy turns into a man as he dreams of another boy who swept into his life and turned it into something beautiful before leaving just as suddenly as he came.
Somewhere there is a prince who thinks nothing but of the people he loves in his kingdom, whose thoughts are occupied by his subjects and how they must be doing with him gone. There is a prince who fell in love with a boy he left behind, wishing he had at least stayed there if he was doomed to never come home.

Alters SMP, Background
Gods need champions, they have families and they pick people to dote on, and some gods hold grudges longer and more powerful than simple mortal minds could hope to comprehend. Children, teenagers, all thrown into the void. Shoved onto a planet unfit for their bodies and minds, wiping them of their memories in the process. Some sent for protection, some sent to protect, some moved because they were too much a disgrace for their god to face, and some sent in hopes their bodies would blacken and rot in the endless abyss. Each one with a life they no longer remember, experiences they can only hope will come back to them overtime.
