Well, no one expected this, including myself, but a short drabble with Postman, oc of a wonderful artist @ichigosan has been written! Congratulation with 2k followers ⸜( *ˊᵕˋ* )⸝

Weather was surprisingly good. The kind that was usually described in romance novels, when a light breeze rips leaves from the hands of one character and brings it right into palms of another. Chirping of birds outside the window reminded him that the day had already begun. The sky was a clear azure color, the sun was shining, but at the same time weather wasn't too hot. Just right. As if fate itself was on his side, creating the right mood.

Barely touching one of the envelopes with his fingers, light pink, because it couldn't be any other color, fearing that excessive force might damage the paper and the treasure hidden in it. If he was especially lucky, there could be a bookmark or just dried petals inside, although, frankly speaking, Postman would be happy with anything. And this literally meant any thing. His collection included pens, colored feathers, patterned square sheets for origami and colored glass. Every little thing that had ever been put in and sent with love.

Unable to contain the impulse, he picked up one of the letters and brought it close to his face. Closing eyes, he almost felt how sweet scent of perfume surround his entire being. Or maybe it was floral or even more spicy, he couldn't say for sure 'cause scent had long since disappeared, but the imaginary sensation was firmly entrenched in his memory. Sometimes he wondered if it was brand one or perhaps it was the sender's personal recipe. If he could overcome his fear, if he wrote a letter with a question… would he get an answer?

It was a stupid blue dream of his, but the power of love always overcame everything. His parents were proof, convincing enough, of the theory, successfully putting it into practice. His very existence was the fruit of this love.

He would like to continue being pen pals, maybe… if he allowed himself to dream, to be a little bit greedy, he would die for chance to meet in person. Perhaps he would finally be able to hear a voice, stand face to face and inhale the full lungs of that very perfume, the aroma of which sometimes passed onto the paper. Touching, feeling warmth of the skin and squeeze in an embrace so tight until his own hands tremble-..

There always was pricking, bringing overwhelming suffering, but any pain was a joy if, closing his eyes, he could dedicate it to the sender.

The loud trills of the alarm clock finally brought him back to reality. His fingers, out of habit, reached for the phone and turned off the notification: it was time to go to work. Although he himself had long since stopped considering it as such. Was it really necessary to give such a label to a cause, which he wanted to voluntarily dedicate his life and, if possible, a little longer? Putting his disheveled hair in order and once again running over his image in the mirror, Postman straightened his shirt, smoothing out small folds visible only to him. After all, going on a date inappropriately dressed was bad manners.

Turning to the door, he froze for a moment, wondering if he had forgotten anything. Of course. Once again raising the treasured pink envelope to his face and he left a kiss on it, lingering with his lips for seconds longer than he really should have.
