Just a heads-up for those of you I talk to on Discord that I'll be disappearing for a few weeks. No ETA on return yet.

To make a long story very short, the power company has somehow managed to "lose" my payments and I have until 5pm tomorrow to pay them over a thousand bucks or my power will be disconnected. Being off work right now means I have absolutely no way to do this, so I'm just going to have to deal with it for a few weeks.

They did this to my brother quite a while back; he paid the bills again just to keep his power on and they magically "found" his original payments four months later.

It's not a coincidence that we have just one power company with no competition. They can do what they want.

Anyhow. It is what it is. I have nowhere else to go. I'll try to get downtown to a coffee shop or something once in a while to charge my phone, but. It is what it is.

It's going to be 30-35 C (90-95 F) here. Things are fucked.

If you're a writer you're supposed to write a lot of bullshit. It's part of the gig. You have to write a lot of absolute garbage in order to get to the good bits. Every once in a while you'll be like "Oh, I wish I hadn't wasted all that time writing bullshit," but that's dumb. That's exactly the same as an Olympic runner being like "Oh, I wish I hadn't wasted all that time running all those practice laps"

The best advice i can give any creator is do it before you're good at it, do it BEFORE you're happy, do it while you suck, do it while you're doubting yourself and get stuck the fuck in, because waiting around to be "good enough" is a motherfucking trap of the highest degree. You'll get good along the way and better after ever project is complete. Remember, this is the greatest thing you've ever created, and then you'll do something else. You're only ever gonna get better, but not if you stand still.

You have no idea how many people lurk on your work. No idea how many times people go back to revisit your work. How big they smile when they simply think about your work. How fast their heart beats, how excited they get when they see that you posted something.

People are shy with their feedback. Sometimes it’s because they’re simply shy. Other times it’s because they assume you already know how great and talented you are. Could be both.

My point is, even if you barely have any likes or reblogs, don’t get discouraged. You have a lot of silent fans, but they are still your fans. Keep on creating. Because there is always someone out there who will love what you have made.
