I walk alone through a field at night. Ahead of me, a suspiciously small train rambles down the tracks, its headlights cutting through the darkness with a whispy glow. It crawls along so slowly it looks like at any second it may come to a stop. Yet it continues to roll. A shiver runs down my spine as I glance around, nothing but silence greets me. I suddenly realize that if this was filmed it would be the opening scene of a horror movie or some episode of Supernatural. And I am not a major chacter. I am an extra.

I’ve now gotten so many texts from the Harris campaign that my phone has decided Joe Biden is actually texting me and even made a contact for him. The AI revolution may be coming but at least it thinks I’m a lot more connected than I actually am.

Now that’s it’s Halloween every time someone talks about ghosts I think of is the Dead Boy Detectives so here’s to everyone else who no longer pictures a ghost costume as a sheet but instead as an overly complicated cosplay of Charles Rowland or Edwin Paine. I hope you have a great day.

Good Omens update: The finals season will be one movie-length episode.
As someone who likes shows better than movies I’m a little sad that we won’t be getting a full season to finish off the Good Omens story. However, I’m so excited that we avoided and cancellation and to see how this story will end!

Every time I start an episode of Sherlock and have some idea of the set up I try and think of the most gay way they could finish the episode without it actually being gay, and nearly every time it ends up being even gayer than what I imagined

My perspective as a DBD fan now is that all my elaborate headcanons for a multi-season story that has Charles and Edwin as endgame are now canon until someone says otherwise

One thing that I was really hoping to see more of in Dead Boy Detectives if we had gotten a season 2(RIP) was Edwin and Crystals friendship.
I want to watch him slowly learn to trust her over time, as they went from being co-workers connected by Charles to almost having Edwin be the one Crystal knows best. Also them bonding over Charles being stupidly impulsive half the time and watching Crystal go from “Why do I like him?” to “Why do we like him?” to “Why do you like him?” as the love triangle switches. I think putting Charles at the mercy of these two judging him on a daily basis is something that definitely happens and he secretly loves.
Honestly I just love their dynamic in what we saw of them warming up to each other already, and this will definitely be a headcanon forever.

Somewhere in my ADHD brain it decided the way to feel better after my favorite gay detective show got cancelled was to watch a different detective show except this one ended seven years ago and lives up to its notoriously bad queerbait.
Honestly can’t tell if its working.

Okay. Here we go.
Obviously I am devastated that Netflix has made the decision to cancel Dead Boy Detectives. This show was something special to me, one of those that gets you through hard times. It built a fandom community I felt I could be a part of more than ever before, and I believe that many others in that community had similar experiences aswell. I was hoping, more than I ever have before, that it would be able to last on for the hard times that are to come. Unfortunately, those hopes were unable to come true. Even more unfortunately, it is not a surprise.
I am disappointed in Netflix for continuing this culture of releasing shows that capture peoples hearts and minds only to cancel them when they produce niche and loving fandoms over those that are more widespread yet on average less attached. We’ve seen it happen so many times before(most similarly with Lockwood & Co.) and yet I was foolish enough to wonder if do to the success of shows like Sandman, Lucifer, and even Good Omens(on Prime but also involves Neil Gaiman) DBD could be the exception. It was not. Though this may be helping Netflix now, they are not making viewers, or fans, they are conditioning people not to trust them, and they are taking away from those they are meant to entertain.
So if anyone involved with Netflix sees my random Tumblr post(highly unlikely I know) Do Better. I want to ask you to reconsider to save DBD or other shows that you have canceled in the past, but that is a battle we have always lost no matter how hard we fight. So all I can ask is for you to try to care, to look at the value satisfying an active fan-base can give you, and when the next show in this pattern inevitably comes to the chopping block, give it the chance Lockwood & Co., Dead Boy Detectices, and so many more deserved.
As for DBD, just because the show is over doesn't mean I don't appreciate all it was and all it could've been. I truly loved this series more than I should have, and so to end this on a positive note, thank you. Thank you to everyone who made DBD what it was, even if just for one season, from the people involved to my fellow fans. It was really a great one, and I know we will let it live on for as long as we can.

“At first yes! Than no.. what does it even matter anymore, you admitted that you don’t love me! Those jumbled feelings that you have? Are for Charles, it’s so obvious he’s the one you love!”
Also general being gay, mommy issues, and astrology.

I love protective/jealous Charles because I honestly don't think he realizes that he's jealous and not just trying to protect Edwin. He probably gets a bad feeling about all these random guys but its really just jealousy:
Guy: *shows any interest in Edwin in any way*
Charles(while glaring at the guy intensely): I don't know Edwin, I just don't trust him. I like that you’re opening up to making friends but I think you should be careful about spending a lot of time with him. I mean, you've always got me and the agency.

Here me out if you take any one of the trio(Edwin, Charles, Crystal) out they're taken out by Esther in episode 1.
Take out Charles and no one saves them by possessing Esther.
Take out Crystal and they probably break into her house while she's still inside or she just walks in while they're halfway through rescuing Becky.
Take out Edwin and Crystal and Charles probably charge into the house without knowing where Esther is or that she's a witch.
They're all so co-dependent from the beginning its a wonder the boys were able to not completely fail during those 30 years.
